Job Title: Billing Quality Control Analyst
Position Purpose and Objectives:
The Billing Quality Control Analyst is responsible for auditing meters and data as they relate to billing. The Analyst serves as the liaison between the meter shop, operations, system design, and member services to address and eliminate metering errors and ensure the accuracy of our members’ bills. The Analyst coordinates field inspections, analyzes billing data, identifies trends, and recommends changes to internal procedures to prevent future issues.
Essential Job Functions:
- Use applicable technology to audit meter reads and billing records
- Construct, suggest, implement, and monitor internal controls surrounding the metering process to improve accuracy of member billing
- Set up regular audits for service locations, meters, multipliers, and rates
- Conduct field checks as necessary to validate billing records
- Present monthly performance metrics to track meter audit performance
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure that quality standards are being maintained when meters are set in the field.
- Collaborate with 3rd party vendors to troubleshoot issues
- Coordinate with management to ensure compliance and accuracy of billing and meter data.
- Identify training opportunities and recommend improvements
- Document standard operating procedures to audit billing and metering data and update as necessary
- Supports the implementation of billing processes improvement initiatives and processes
- Performs project coordination as needed
- Support team by being available to help answer questions related to field checks and meter data
- Create, expand, and maintain professional and productive working relationships with peers and stakeholders. Work collaboratively with colleagues and fosters a spirit of cooperation in the workplace.
- Perform other duties as may be requested or assigned to meet the needs of United Power in the interest of good management practices.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Comprehensive knowledge of general utility metering, billing procedures, and best practices.
- Ability to conduct checks at service locations by reviewing meters, confirming setup, and collecting displayed meter data
- Detail oriented, accurate and inquisitive
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Outstanding interpersonal abilities
- Proficient in all applicable software, including Microsoft Office and data entry programs.
Education, Training and Experience:
BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience with proven track record
Desired Experience: Utility billing or Utility meter shop (a plus)
Supervision Received and Exercised:
Receive general guidance and direction from the Senior Billing and Collections Manager
Problem Solving:
May work on complex problems. Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained. Builds stable working relationships internally.
Discretion/Latitude:
Under direct supervision of the Senior Billing and Collections Manager
Impact:
Interaction with a team with diverse backgrounds and temperaments and being an advocate for them.
Front-line representation of United Power through interactions with our Members.
Access to Members’ accounts, personal and private information.
Liaison:

Essential Physical & Mental Requirements:
- Majority of time requires sitting, bending at neck, waist, legs, and arms; twisting body; and changing positions at will. Occasional driving, standing, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching.
- Requires repetitive motions with hands and fingers such as keyboarding, use of telephones, cell phones, etc.
- Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
- Noise level in work environment is moderate. Work requires close attention to detail and accuracy and is varied in nature with regular interruptions. Work is subject to regular hours.
Working Conditions:
Office setting 70% of the time. 30% of the time work may occur outdoors, in a warehouse or maintenance environment (dust, uneven surfaces and all types of weather and temperature variations).
Typical hiring range: $32.662 - $36.070 per hour, at 40 hour per week; grade maximum of $39.479 per hour
