Job Description:What We Are Looking ForThe Assistant/Associate/Director of Development reports to the Assistant Vice President for Development. This position is responsible for qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors and prospects for major gifts in support of an assigned school, college or division. The minimum qualification for this position are a Bachelor's degree, up to one year of experience, and a Christian faith. Baylor will be filling positions for multiple units on campus including Arts & Sciences and the School of Education, among possible others. Baylor also reserves the right to make the final assessment of the candidate's qualifications to determine if the position will be offered at the Assistant Director, Associate Director, or Director level. Candidate should also possess the following skills and abilities.
- Experience in fundraising, alumni engagement, business development, sales, or marketing/public relations
- Understanding of the mission and character of the University
- Proven ability to manage time well
- Maturity & personal integrity
- Professional dress, appearance, and demeanor
- Able and willing to work evenings and weekends as needed
- The availability to accommodate extensive travel
- Must have current driver's license and good driving record
A Master's degree and three years of related experience are preferred. Baylor also has a preference for previous experience in higher education or organization of comparable size and complexity.
Experience will not be considered in lieu of the educational requirement.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.What You Will Do - Qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of donors and prospects for major gifts to Baylor, with a particular focus on alumni and parents for the designated school or college.
- Collaborate with deans, directors, or other senior administrators in developing philanthropic agendas - consistent with Baylor's strategic plans - that major gift donors and prospective donors will find impactful.
- With leadership from the Assistant Vice President for Development, Schools, and Colleges, establish yearly measurable goals and objectives and related metrics for personal and unit achievement, including new gift commitments, secured, funds raised, proposals made, new prospects qualified, and donor/prospect interactions.
- Participate fully in University Development's prospect management, discovery/qualification visits, and related prospect development programs.
- Collaborate with deans, directors, and other senior administrators on structuring, enlisting, educating, and partnering with school, college, and alumni advisory boards and councils to increase giving.
- Collaborate with other University Advancement team members to inspire trust, encourage creative thinking, and solve problems with other Baylor staff and volunteers to increase philanthropic support to Baylor.
- Assist, as requested by University Advancement leadership, with programs to increase giving to Baylor.
- Ability to comply with University policies.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
