PRIMARY FUNCTION (Sr System Engineer (Cloud)):
We are looking for Sr System Engineer (Cloud) who can seamlessly mesh tech know-how with business acumen to help us navigate all our on-premises and cloud computing needs, including design, manage, support, and monitor infrastructure within public and private cloud environments
As a Sr System Engineer (Cloud), you should have a firm grasp of IaaS, PaaS and SaaS technologies, platforms and applications including designing, documentation, implementation, maintain and support IT to meet the business needs. The successful candidate will have intimate knowledge of how best to customize these attributes to our business to help us become more secure and efficient.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Designs, implements, and maintains cloud-based applications, systems, and associated infrastructures.
Script and automate routine cloud and on-premises tasks (AWS components such as IAM, Lambda, SGs, ec2 deployments, etc.)
Develop documentation, user manuals, and policy and procedure information for AWS and other on-premises architecture.
Working in tandem with our engineering team to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions.
Managing cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines.
Deploying and debugging cloud initiatives as needed in accordance with best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
Educating teams on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training as required.
Employing exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to see and solve issues
Using your extensive knowledge of APIs to design RESTful services, and integrate them with existing data providers, using JSON or XML as needed.
Orchestrating and automating cloud-based platforms throughout the company.
Stay current with industry trends, making recommendations as needed to help the company excel.
Lead and develop best practices for Infrastructure teams.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering; Master's degree a plus.
Certification as an AWS a plus. (Other cloud-related certification also a plus.)
Five to ten years' experience in a Cloud Engineer role or related position.
Three to five years' experience in developing software using languages such as shell, perl, python, C++.
Experience with VMware host upgrades, virtual machine builds, deployment, and migration
Experience with migration and management of VMC on AWS is plus
Experience with backup, system manager software distribution, cost optimization and other cloud operational work
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Experience with cloud-based services, preferably AWS.
In depth knowledge of web services, API, REST and RPC.
Strong awareness of networking and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP and distributed networks.
Requires attention to detail, a pride in delivering excellent service, organization, and high levels of energy and endurance.
Excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to stay focused on completing tasks and meeting goals within a busy workspace.
Interest in Cloud Engineering and its impact on greater business practices.
Skilled at working in tandem with a team of engineers, or alone as required
