The Accounting and Reporting Manager works within Financial Services, reporting directly to the Assistant Controller. This position will manage the daily aspects of the Accounting and Reporting department and provide support to leadership relative to special projects.
Specific responsibilities include: managing the daily review and approval of journal entries; overseeing bank wires and RSTARS transfers; ensuring financial systems and the related reporting platforms are reconciled timely and accurately; coordinating and facilitating periodic internal and external audits; providing guidance and recommendations regarding operational improvements; proactively seeking opportunities to collaborate and provide training to staff and campus representatives; providing support to Financial Services Leadership on various special projects; and assisting with the preparation of financial statements in compliance with GASB and GAAP guidelines and requirements.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Information Systems or a related field
Five years of accounting experience, including at least three years of supervisory experience
Knowledge of GASB and GAAP and related policies and procedures required
Preferred Qualifications:
MBA
Experience in higher education
Experience in USM
Audit experience
PeopleSoft experience
