Job Summary: 

The Development Officer is a critical member of a 3-person Development Team, reporting directly to the Director of Development. This position would work closely with parent volunteers, faculty, Board members, and Advancement Team to meet the school’s strategic goals. The ideal candidate would be detail-oriented, energetic, and a collaborative problem-solver with excellent writing and financial skills. The Development Officer is a full-time, non-exempt, twelve-month position.

Position Description: 

The Development Officer is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the Crane Country Day School’s Development Office, school-wide fundraising events with an emphasis on providing both organizational and financial data related to both the Annual Fund and Capital Campaign. 

Responsibilities:

Development Support (60%):

• training and management of Annual Fund parent volunteers

• organizing, calendaring, tracking, and reporting of donor solicitation for the upcoming capital campaign

• assist with donor research, cultivation, and stewardship 

• assist with Raiser’s Edge data management 

• track office and campaign budgets and expenses

Special Events (30%):

• help manage annual Development special events: Crane Country Fair, alumni/past parent reunions, grandparents’ event, Spring Benefit, etc)

• work with Marketing & Communications Director to promote events

• assist event volunteers

• manage vendor relationships 

General Support (10%):

• design simple invitations using InDesign

• support mailings, off-campus errands, ordering of supplies

• maintain an effective information filing and retrieval system

• provide administrative support to the Director of Development as needed 

• other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience:

•  Bachelor’s degree with two or more years of non-profit/fundraising experience, preferably in independent schools 

• Strong computer and technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

• InDesign and Raiser’s Edge experience is desired, but not necessary

• Excellent financial, written, and oral communication skills
