The Director of IT Business Intelligence is responsible for the strategic implementation and operation of AMLI's BI platform. This role will oversee the staff that creates, maintains, and supports the BI data layer and Report Development. The Director will work closely with the operational BI analysts and senior management team to architect BI data and reporting requirements. As a critical contributor to AMLI's data governance and data quality initiatives, this person will work with the CIO to recommend BI strategy and objectives and ensure department BI goals are achieved.
Essential Functions of the Job:
Research and understand trends in Business Intelligence.
Introduce ideas, technology, and methods that contribute to AMLI's strategic vision
Lead, manage, coach, and develop internal staff
Oversee and direct staff to maintain, develop, and optimize the Power BI, SQL data warehouse, and various reporting and analytics systems.
Lead and participate in BI-related projects and initiatives.
Ability to translate business requirements into actionable technical tasks
Ability to communicate and summarize meaningful updates to business sponsors
Cultivate and manage AMLI's relationships with industry peers, partners, and vendors
Regularly interface with the CIO, business leads, and business analysts on initiatives.
Represent AMLI strategic interests on industry panels and groups, partner customer advisory councils, and AMLI committees
Travel: Travel up to 10% may be required. Employees who are required to drive for work, whether for travel between job sites, out-of-town travel and/or to run errands on behalf of AMLI, must have a valid driver's license and carry appropriate state-required insurance.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
5+ years of experience working with data and BI reporting systems. Microsoft PowerBI experience required. 2+ years of experience overseeing a BI system. Multifamily apartment industry experience is a plus. College degree required; Information Technology or Business degree preferred.
COMPUTER/TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Strong working knowledge of SQL and OLAP databases. SQL and DAX skills are required. A deep understanding of Microsoft PowerBI is needed. Experience with Azure DevOps is a plus. Knowledgeable regarding currently available technology solutions and trends in Business Intelligence. Highly proficient in Microsoft office applications.
