Institutional Data Analyst
Full-Time, 12-month, Benefitted, on-campus position

Position Summary:
The Institutional Data Analyst conducts research and performs analysis and reporting of institutional data for state, federal, and regional regulators, and accreditors to document the attainment of the University’s strategic goals and mission. Projects include building dashboards or reporting systems for end users, designing studies, performing analyses, preparing statistical reports, and reporting to inform decision making, and designing predictive modeling or other data mining capabilities. Duties and responsibilities will include:
Data collection, analysis, and interpretation – 90%
- Develops processes to compile, analyze and interpret data from studies, surveys, and other sources that document the attainment of university-wide goals and objectives.
- Facilitates and completes research and coordination of:
- Annual NDUS requests for information.
- Requests for information/surveys from external and internal sources.
- Applies research methodologies and techniques in the collection, analysis, and reporting of quantitative and non-quantitative information.
- Completes data reporting requirements for the university (Clearinghouse, SAM, surveys, etc.).
- Completes reports to internal and external audiences including local, state, and federal regulatory agencies (IPEDs, CDS, etc.).
- Gathers and reports statistical data on student success including:
- Enrollment statistics and demographics
- Retention and graduation rates
- Transfer rates
- Satisfaction surveys by students, alumni, and employers.
- Disseminates data-related reports to various campus and other VCSU community stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Works collaboratively with other units of the University to assist in the development and accomplishment of their research and reporting endeavors.
- Supports university-wide assessment and program review with analyses required by the project.
Miscellaneous duties – 10%
- Supports innovation, creativity, and ideas to improve/enhance processes, functions, etc. in the department and as a whole for the university.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Compensation:

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field
- Experience with survey research methodology, analysis, and report writing.
- Strong working knowledge of computer software programs (i.e., spreadsheet programs, database programs, data analysis tools, etc.), specifically PowerBI, SPSS, R, SAS or comparable programs.
- Ability to organize and meet deadlines.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and writing skills.
- Ability to work effectively with a team as well as independently.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's or doctoral degree in relevant field pertinent to the position
- Two years of directly related work experience
- Experience working in higher education institution
- Knowledge of institutional accreditation reports and processes.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and present effective presentations
- Knowledge of the University and the Valley City community.
