At AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, formerly Shawnee Mission Medical Center, you're more than just a number on a chart. The role you’ll contribute:
The Physical Therapist (PT) evaluates, plans and administers appropriate techniques of treatment as prescribed by a physician. The PT administers direct patient care treatments in a professional manner and within hospital standards and completes timely and thorough documentation. S/he conducts individual and group therapy sessions both on land and in the water to assist children to attain maximum potential of gross motor skills. S/he works closely with parents and other professional staff and participates in team conferences. S/he determines appropriate equipment for patients and may also assist teachers in the classroom with positioning/handling students for optimal performance as well as providing documentation for the acquisition of equipment.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
Conduct initial and annual re-assessments of children on caseload.
Develop comprehensive evaluation reports for the family and insurance companies.
Provide direct therapy to assist children to develop maximum fine motor, sensory processing, self-help, and feeding skills.
Collaborate with other team members including occupational, speech-language and music therapists as well as early childhood special educators and paraprofessionals.
Provide parent training and education individually and in a group setting.
