BENEFITS ANL 3 (Benefits Analyst)Department Description
JOB SUMMARYUnder the direction of the Campus Benefits Supervisor, provide a full range of benefits counseling and interpretation of benefits policies, contracts, and state/federal law in all areas of UC Benefit programs such as group insurance and disability programs. Interpret policy governing non-UC managed programs such as CalPERS, Social Security retirement and disability programs, Medicare, State Disability (SDI), and other locally-administered benefit programs.

QUALIFICATIONSRequired: - Experience in benefits counseling including conveying complex plan information and analyzing plan coverage differences.
- Knowledge of current theory and practices related to benefits administration including pension management investment principles, pension regulations and Federal and State benefit/pension legislation, retirement, death, disability and survivor benefits, personal finance, pension reciprocity and portability, Social Security, Medicare, health, welfare and cafeteria benefits, Federal and State legislation related to benefits.
Preferred: - Skill to understand, interpret and apply UC and campus policy and procedures.
- Knowledge of principles of adult education, effective communication, and a wide range of teaching and facilitating techniques in designing as well as teaching/facilitating courses and providing counseling services.
- Analytical skills to identify problems, research and analyze data, evaluate options and provide alternative solutions.
