The Enterprise Windows and Azure Administration (EWA) team manages a wide variety of both vended and internally developed web, application, and database servers. EWA also supports CI/CD pipelines, web application and container deployment, management, monitoring, et cetera for a wide variety of Indiana University development teams. In addition, EWA manages and supports Microsoft Azure and Power Platforms at IU, including PowerBI.

Job Summary
Department-Specific Responsibilities
Works with multiple development teams and other system administrators to support deployment pipelines and container orchestration.
Supports the EWA DBA team by providing additional database server management and automation.
General Responsibilities
Advises on team architecture and provides advanced knowledge in the building, configuration, operation, monitoring and maintenance of scripts and code used to administer and automate servers and systems; reviews and creates advanced scripts to manage exchanges between development and operations teams.
Provides escalated problem resolution for university systems as tier III support; writes team documentation of systems architectures, systems practices and processes to satisfy business continuity, security, inventory, and supportability requirements.
Establishes metrics and provides advanced monitoring of servers and systems, using a combination of scripting and system management technologies, including application performance management (APM) and creation of custom monitors to ensure integrity and provide scalability, business continuity, and operational performance; develops new scripts and modifies existing scripts as needed to automate operations team functions and assist with monitoring, patching, etc.
Provides advanced support for internal and external partners in monitoring, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting servers and systems.
Writes the standard practices for the development of complex spreadsheets and diagrams demonstrating dataflow of large scale systems, showing server and system connectivity to internal and external partners; monitors patches and updates for all servers and systems with latest operating system, application, and other security updates.
Makes recommendations for the development and implementation of team's strategic plan for all servers and systems.
Researches and stays up to date on systems administration best practices and automation approaches.
May participate in committees and communities of practice to share and improve systems administration practices across the university.
May serve as project leader; often provides guidance to junior peers.

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
