FOR USE BY IT AND HSIS ONLY: This position will work directly with business teams to learn their business needs and help translate those needs into software requirements and design plans. Develop custom applications and reports to support UAB's Oracle E-Business Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. Document existing processes and create detailed test plans that can be followed to test custom applications to ensure they are not negatively impacted by system upgrades and patches. Ensure assigned tasks and projects are completed on time and within scope.
This position will also perform maintenance on existing software products for third party customers. To assist in coding, testing, and debugging new software or making enhancements to existing software for their party customers. To write programs according to specifications from higher level staff or business analysts. To make suggestions of problem solutions or software enhancements. To assist in development of user manuals. To works with technical staff to learn and understand problems with software. This position will commit to fostering an environment of heightened security following Information Technology Security Policies and participating in security training, such as Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), on an annual basis.
(Annual Salary: $45,395 - $73,770)
Associate's degree in Information Systems or a related field and two (2) years of related experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement.
Work and/or educational experience and knowledge, or a combination of the two in the following areas are desired:
Database procedural languages (PL/SQL); Writing SQL code in relational databases including query optimization, indexes, transactional SQL, and inner/outer joins
Basic software development background including design patterns frameworks, data structures, and performance optimizations
Writing reusable, readable, well-documented and efficient code
API design standards and best practices (RESTful web services using JSON a plus)
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum software development and deployment
Large enterprise resource planning systems a plus
Other desired skills/abilities:
Ability to work and communicate directly with non-technical functional users to determine needs, diagnose problems, and test solutions
Ability to manage working on multiple projects and assignments in a given timeframe while communicating progress to key stakeholders and ensuring meeting deadlines
