The College of Medicine IT department is recruiting for a Software Applications Developer to join their team to support the College of Medicine and Cancer Center initiatives.
The incumbent will be responsible for translating system needs (analysis and development) into technical solutions by writing software applications, integrating systems, creating, modifying and/or supporting desktop, web-based, mobile, cloud, and virtual applications and application programming interfaces.
Develop and maintain intermediate to advanced IT applications and programs to meet business requirements and support user needs and initiatives. Create detailed technical design specifications.
Analyze client operations, explore improvement opportunities, and assess client needs using a structured process.
Translate business and technical requirements into test cases and scenarios. Script, code, and document custom test automation frameworks.
Develop and/or implement reusable components and programming code that is logical, optimizes programming resources, and meets user requirements. Work with user to test and debug programs.
Write documentation to provide user support for new or modified programs. Devise or modify production/operations procedures to solve complex problems. Document and complete knowledge transfer to production support.
Adhere to quality assurance best practices such as testing units, testing user acceptance, documenting and reviewing code, creating test cases, and troubleshooting, debugging, and leveraging test environments for manual and automated testing.
Install and configure new or modified software releases, solutions, and/or updates. May provide hardware support. Deploy new modules, upgrades, and fixes to the production environment. Perform script maintenance and updates due to changes in requirements or implementations.
Evaluate new and existing applications and platforms. Provide recommendations for improving performance by conducting gap analysis, identifying feasible alternative solutions, and assisting in the scope of modifications.
Build and validate automated deployments using configuration management technology.
Evaluate and supplement vendor supplied documentation for third party software. May work with vendors to resolve problems and develop solutions.
Assist in establishing requirements, methods, and procedures for routine maintenance and production support. Perform ongoing routine application maintenance tasks to ensure minimal impact.
Participate and collaborate in project planning processes (such as Agile, Scrum, Extreme, RAD, etc.)

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Six (6) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
Two (2) years of related work experience
Additional Qualifications Considered
Extensive experience in web development utilizing Microsoft Core 6/C#/MVC, MS-SQL Server, JSON, IIS.
Familiar with front-end frameworks (Blazor), an ORM such as Entity Framework and dependency injection, and with cloud-based software solutions hosting (Azure, AWS) desired.
