SIUE’s Information Technology Services department is seeking qualified candidates to fill a full-time Manager Database Administration. The Manager will direct, plan, coordinate and assume responsibility for the design, implementation, configuration, performance, security and support of the University's Enterprise Information Systems databases. The selected candidate will be responsible for the monitoring, identification and resolution of database and application problems requiring 24x7 coverage and response to system alerts and issues. This position will design, build, test, implement, install, upgrade, patch, secure, analyze, tune, backup, recover and troubleshoot relational databases and serve as an escalation point of contact for resolution of database service problems and issues. Other duties will include: -Provide day-to-day development support for projects to build and improve relational databases and applications. -Collaborate with application development staff and users to design, implement, and communicate database solutions that work according to the requirements of the academic and business users. -Provide support for high severity incidents in the development, system integration and production environments. -Create, monitor and enforce database development and auditing standards and procedures to ensure the integrity of University's relational database applications. -Serve as a technical consultant to application development staff and the university community. -Supervise, direct, analyze and prioritize the activities, procedures and operational functions of the database administrators to assure accuracy and efficiency in operations. -Collaborate with senior management to set short- and long-term priorities in the areas of information architecture/infrastructure planning, information security, standards development, and strategic planning.
Additionally, the Manager Database Administration will manage and evaluate the performance of the database administration staff within ITS and promote career development through the planning, creation, execution and supervision of the technical training and mentoring.

1. Any combination totaling six (6) years from the following categories: * (a) Progressively more responsible work experience in IT-related profession (b) College course work with a concentration in Information Technology (IT), IT Management, or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent: -60 semester hours or Associate’s degree equals one (1) year -90 semester hours equals two (2) years -120 semester hours or Bachelor’s degree equals three (3) years (Note: Only a maximum of 3 years credit for college course work is available.
2. Additional required experience*: -One-year supervisory experience in training, managing, and evaluating subordinates encouraging growth, independence, and teamwork. -Two years of experience in a supervisory or lead worker capacity. -Four years of experience as a relational database administrator. -Six years of experience with various operating systems (Unix, Linux,Windows).
*All experience may be concurrent.
-Ability to immediately respond and support critical applications on a 24x7 basis; -Ability to effectively communicate and interact in a team environment; -Ability to effectively communicate and professionally interact with all staff levels; -Must be self-motivated and be able to work as part of a team or independently; -Demonstrate analytical abilities and quantitative/problem solving skills; -Excellent oral and written communications skills; -Certification as an Oracle DBA or Oracle Developer; -Experience with Ellucian's Banner Enterprise system.
