The High Performance Research Computing (HPRC) group provides support and resources, mostly in a Linux cluster environment, for over 2000 scientific computing researchers across campus. As the Senior Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining a large and complex systems project, providing advanced technical support in developing, maintaining, installing, and using operating systems or subsystems, and providing strategic planning and technical guidance on major development projects. The well qualified candidate will have an advanced degree in a relevant science or engineering discipline, experience with HPC usage , and RedHat/CentOS/and or Ubuntu development and administration experience.
Due to the nature of this position, a hybrid work arrangement may be available for workplace flexibility
What you need to do and know

Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or any equivalent combination of education and experience
Eight years of systems administration experience
Knowledge of HPC architectures of cache-coherent Symmetric Multi-Processors (SMPs) and clusters and their interconnects
Knowledge of HPC mass storage technologies, OS organization and design, host-based and network security, an parallelization and code optimization issues
Prefer experience with HPC usage and system administration at universities and other national HPC centers
Prefer 4 + years’ experience developing, debugging, and administering Red Hat/CentOS/Ubuntu systems including package management, kernel patching, and failure recovery procedures
Preferred Licenses and Certifications:
Linux/UNIX certifications related to systems administration
Certifications related to managing Spectrum Scale or Lustre based storage systems
