Job Description:
Responsible for providing strategic leadership and management of database and advancement systems, advancement reporting and analysis, data stewardship and integrity, gift entry and acknowledgement process with primary focus on the needs of donors and end users of data. Serves as a project leader and drives creation and implementation of enhancements to Advancement's technology, data, analytics and reporting capabilities. Also leads annual Advancement Information Systems planning and evaluation process in partnership with the vice president and advancement and career advising and development colleagues. Deliverables are annual plan and evaluation of the previous year's plan.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Researches, designs and prepares complex database queries, exports, imports, custom and canned reports and data analysis to support departmental needs.
Provides expertise in the operational aspects of the various products and systems in use, and serves as "superuser" of the various products and systems in use, advising others when questions arise and serving as a resource when problems occur.
Responsible for training of advancement information systems colleagues and advancement and career advising and development end users to ensure that they are effective and independent as possible.
Oversees the daily activities of the Advancement Information Services team.
Maintains and enhances the Advancement Portal working closely with end users to ensure it is as valuable, efficient, and used as possible.
Primary database administrator providing oversight and maintenance.
Maintains, regularly reviews, updates and cleans up database to maximize efficiency of data entry and reporting.
Develops and generates custom fundraising reports and database reports. Endeavors to enable colleagues to generate/access as many reports and as much data as possible. Fosters a culture of data and report independence versus dependence.
Communicates with users to ensure delivery of clear and accurate reports and datasets that meet informational needs.
Maintains contact with business offices to measure the impact of business process changes and facilitate appropriate adjustments.
Create protocols for access permissions in accordance with college security policies; audits access to data and information systems.
Researches and evaluates the adoption of data warehouse and reporting technologies and services.
Reviews current and available versions of system software and advises on use of third-party systems and interfacing with current systems.
Conducts feasibility studies and analyzes user needs.
Mentors and trains coworkers/end users in divisions and across campus.
Oversees gift entry and processing and receipt/acknowledgement process.
Responsible for developing and maintaining best practices to ensure the most accurate database possible and measuring ongoing progress toward that end.
Maintains current knowledge of operational requirements, best practices and industry trends.

Requirements:
EDUCATION: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree.
PREREQUISITES:
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in advancement/development/fundraising with responsibilities that include managing operations, gift processing, technology, data and information services.
Experience in enterprise level data warehousing with multiple data sources.
Minimum of 5 years of relational database experience.
Understanding of the goals of advancement and the data and system requirements necessary to accomplish those goals.
A commitment to effective and efficient stewardship of gifts and to the accuracy and thoroughness in reporting and analytics.
Familiarity with records maintenance, functions and issues.
Experienced in project management with a track record of successful projects.
Expertise in analytics and reporting.
Ability to work independently and to function effectively in team projects.
Must be flexible and adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
Knowledge and experience working with enterprise information systems.
