The Development Assistant works alongside fundraisers, university colleagues, and external constituents to develop, support, and maintain programs and activities consistent with securing philanthropic support for the University. Primary responsibilities include: preparing materials for fundraiser prospect visits, making travel arrangements, and completing transmittal forms for pledges and gifts received, filing visit reports in Blackbaud, drafting gift acknowledgments, and requesting research and pulling additional donor or prospect information from various systems. Done well, these tasks assist fundraisers in identifying the most desirable prospects and donors.
Development assistants also support the work associated with external constituents' visits to campus, meetings, and special events, often interfacing with the Programs and Events team, to maximize event effectiveness within budgetary guidelines. Given the extensive independent contact with external constituents including alumni and parent volunteers, donors, and university officials, this position requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy; excellent oral and written communications skills; and complete discretion regarding the handling and storing of confidential data.
Development Assistant positions are currently available in the following units:
Annual Giving Programs: This unit collaborates with frontline fundraisers from all annual, leadership, major, and principal giving units, through leadership volunteer activity and annual donor recognition.
Schools & Programs: Positions in this unit are the primary conduit between the AdvancementDivision and the deans, and serve as content experts for a portfolio of schools and programs that comprise BC's most prominent areas of research, teaching, and service.
Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $42,350 to $52,950; salary commensurate with relevant experience.
Thisposition requires 2-3 years of increasingly responsible administrativeexperience in a professional setting; strong interpersonal and organizationalskills with attention to detail and accuracy; excellent oral and writtencommunications skills including effective phone communication skills; accuratetyping skills; a working knowledge of Windows PC, including Microsoft Office,and familiarity with Customer Relationship Management databases; exceptionalproofreading; strong attention to detail; a commitment to accuracy; and veryadept at handling multiple tasks and working well within deadlines. Also requires good judgment, discretion inhandling confidential materials, ability to work independently without closesupervision, and flexibility to work beyond the regular hours of the workdaywhen necessary. Candidate must possesssolid knowledge of grammar and punctuation.
Requiresa high school diploma, bachelor's degree preferred. Candidates should be highly motivated to workin a fast-paced environment that will require some night and evening work.
