Job Summary
Department-Specific Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Director of Engineering & Operations, provides leadership over the technical staff responsible for IT service delivery.
Maintains a high level of customer service excellence; participates in budgeting, capital equipment processes, and quality improvement activities for the organization.
Meets scheduled milestones to ensure project/program objectives are met in a timely manner; implements and adheres to college-wide technical policies, objectives, and methods. All activities will be conducted with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views.
Oversees and supports all aspects of IT operations and service delivery within the assigned service area.
Manages and supports all computing and related equipment for Radio and Television Services, including the Radio station WFIU and TV station WTIU and support engineering clients. This includes user workstations, departmental servers, small network switches, broadcasting operating systems (OS) equipment, and digital media/streaming media support.
Provides technical advice on technology related services, and where appropriate, engages IT support staff to provide additional support.
Performs system analysis related to network and security infrastructure to maintain PCI DSS compliance. Documents systems to satisfy business continuity, security (PCI DSS Compliance), Inventory, and supportability requirements.
Supports radio & TV signal, handles transmission and streaming issues, and responds to radio and TV server and workstation emergencies.
Works alongside RTVS leadership to improve IT service delivery, serves as the point of contact between campus leadership and RTVS.
Creates and maintains an atmosphere of customer service excellence.
Manages change control processes in accordance with university processes as it applies to IT services.
Manages hardware and software assets in accordance with UITS procedures.
Recruits, manages, and supervises IT support staff.
Participates in the IT budgeting process and direct expenditures for computer and technology services. Maintains inventory of non-capital equipment.
Manages projects, utilizing best practice project management methodologies.
Creates and maintains a team atmosphere and project plans as appropriate.
Supports the daily IT operations, works with Director of Engineering & Operations to provide leadership that promotes and supports compliance of the statewide goals of RTVS IT.
Directs, tracks, delegates, and reviews the IT requests and incidents to ensure that they are resolved in a timely manner.
Reviews individual requests and incidents of team members to assure that all items are resolved accurately on time, and the communication documented is complete and respectful.
Facilitates assistance from university teams or supervisor as needed to escalate an incident when it falls outside of the scope of the IT RTVS Team.
Manages a team that promotes and supports compliance of the RTVS goals.
Provides continual leadership and coaching to all members of the team, both direct and indirect reports.
Provides technical advice on technology related services, Shared Services, and where appropriate engage UITS to provide additional support.
Where appropriate, serves on RTVS committees and RTVS leadership team.
Maintains communication with the Executive Director and Director of Administration and Finance.
Provides leadership on security controls and safeguards RTVS systems by identifying and solving potential security issues, safeguarding assets. Reports violations and abnormalities when needed to the appropriate campus offices.
Other duties logically associated with the position may be assigned.
General Responsibilities
Configures, tests, troubleshoots, upgrades/modifies, and maintains computer systems utilizing advanced systems analysis techniques which include hardware/software configuration and installation, OS installation and support, security, backup infrastructure, data protection, performance monitoring and tuning, capacity planning, storage allocation, etc.
Collaborates, evaluates, develops and implements best practices to keep pace with emerging technologies as it pertains to server systems and computing environments overall.
Acts as a point of contact and/or as project lead; works closely with design and development teams to ensure decision makers are updated on project progress and made aware of project issues that may need resolution.
Facilitates tactical and strategic planning discussions with stakeholders to reach consensus on direction, project scope, or common understanding of complex issues.
Provides recommendations on project scoping, planning, prioritization, resource allocation, and schedule assignments.
Works to identify areas of improvement throughout the implementation and support process; recommends / facilitates business and architectural process reengineering sessions as needed.
May serve as project leader; often provides guidance to junior peers.

Required
Bachelor's degree (preferably in computer science or related field)
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
5 years of systems administration or related experience
Experience with 2 scripting languages

Understanding of the enterprise interrelation of IT components, wired and wireless networks, VoIP, Active Directory, LDAP, information security, familiarity with advanced desktop management tools, and advanced IT trouble-shooting skills. Ability to improve efficiency by automating tasks
Must be willing to travel as necessary
Experience in a higher education environment
Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. Advertised Salary
The selected candidate will be made an offer within the range of $77,000.00 - $82,000.08 per year based on experience and internal equity within the department.
