Job Summary
Department-Specific Responsibilities
Coordinates activities for the Center for Intellectual Property Research (CIPR), which oversees all aspects of intellectual property education at the IU Maurer School of Law. The CIPR's constituents include faculty, law students, lawyers, and legal scholars from other schools.
Coordinates conferences, seminars, presentations and miscellaneous events directed to law students, lawyers, and law professors, related to the mission of the CIPR. Processes continuing legal education accreditation's and documentation. Researches and suggest conference venues and coordinates venue logistics.
Monitors Center expenditures and encumbrances; submits expenses for approval, and makes purchases and vendor selections; reviews and submits reimbursement claims for approval. Assists in preparing the Center's budget.
Oversees the Center's partnership agreement with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office concerning the PatentConnect patent hub, including financial aspects of that agreement. Assists in planning and executing outreach events relating to PatentConnect.
Coordinates with the IP Clinic Director and administrative assistant to provide administrative support to the IP Clinic as needed.
Coordinates logistics and planning for the activities of IP student groups, including social and professional activities (such as the IP Mock Interview event, the IP Practitioner-in-Residence series, and others), and attends those activities to provide administrative support.
Coordinates activities relating to student participation in Intellectual Property (IP) Moot Court competitions. Assists in coordinating travel and scheduling practices. Coordinates participation of lawyers and law faculty as volunteer judges for practices. Maintains records related to IP Moot Court course (credit) assignments for completion.
Provides administrative oversight for the student edited on-line journal, IP Theory.
In conjunction with the Center Director, collaborates with Senior Communications Director on publicity for the Center. Writes and maintains online postings for the CIPR website, CIPR social media accounts, Indiana Law Annotated, and events calendars. Updates intellectual property and CIPR related contact lists.
Collaborates with IU Maurer School of Law Admissions Office staff to develop outreach events for prospective and admitted students, and assists in staffing those events.
Collaborates with IU Maurer School of Law Development Office to identify and cultivate prospective donors. Develops and maintains contact information for IP alumni. Corresponds with CIPR Board of Advisors, alumni, and stakeholders regarding Center activities.
Provides administrative support for Maurer's Law and Technology Program as needed.
Performs various administrative and support tasks related to the teaching/classroom/conference mission of the IP faculty. Responds to inquiries related to CIPR from professional practitioners, prospective students, and conference attendees. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Develops a schedule designed to meet necessary deadlines and communicates with team members.
Monitors project progress and handles highly complex issues that arise.
Ensures projects adhere to frameworks and all documentation is maintained appropriately for each project.
Allocates tasks and assignments to lower-level appointed staff and monitors their performance.
Performs a variety of administrative skills and prepares correspondence related to the project.

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. Starting salary for this position is $40,000 - $42,000 annually.
