Position Summary:
For over 50 years, UCI has provided high-quality early care and education for the children of students, staff, faculty, and the community. The foundation of our work with children begins with developmentally appropriate practice, which is an approach to teaching grounded in the research on how young children develop and learn and in what is known about effective early education. All of our programs are licensed by the Department of Social Services-Community Care Licensing Division. We follow all Title 22 rules and regulations, as well as Title 5 California Educational Code Regulations (for our subsidized centers). The indoor and outdoor environment, as well as the program curriculum, are planned and facilitated by teachers who maintain Child Development Permits, issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Our centers provide nurturing and engaging environments where children make connections, are supported in their desire to explore and develop into healthy, compassionate, and creative individuals.
Department Substitute at 5 centers, Early Childhood Education Center, Verano Preschool, Children's Center, Extended Day Center and Infant Toddler Center. Responsible for co-supervising the day-to-day operation of thchildren in a preschool setting. Responsibilities include planning curriculum and outdoor activities, assist in supervision of practicum and field study students.

$22.83 - $32.35 (hourly)
Required:
Must have three units of Infant Toddler course work.
Current California Child Development Program Permit.
Documentation of absence of active tuberculosis. Current First Aid and CPR Certification.
Knowledge of appropriate activities (physical, emotional, language, social and cognitive) for this age group. Experience working with preschool age children in a supervised capacity. Physical Stamina California Child Development Permit - either holds an active permit or must show proof that you qualify.
Ability to demonstrate a nurturing, warm and supportive attitude when interacting with children Knowledge of first aid and health practices appropriate for children ages 3 months to 12 years of age.
A minimum of 3 units in Infant Development.
