Manage and coordinate the key financial measurements (revenue, gross profit, expense, and profit and cash), and also advise on cost reducing techniques
Perform journal entries, verification, and back-up and maintain financial database
Assist in the preparation of financial reports. With the help of computer spreadsheets, draw charts and graphs to illustrate these reports
Monitor variances, track receivables, and follow up on discrepancies. Conduct business studies, review accounts, vendor reports, contractual terms, prices, and market oscillations
Perform budget and cost analysis, reviewing and advisory of financial status
Performs risk assessments and evaluation of programs
Communicate with direct management, finance personnel and other analysts in meeting task assigned by the hospital. May present verbal or oral reports on general economic trends, individual corporations, and whole industries
Develop automated accounting applications to improve productivity
Maintain confidentiality of financial information, investment decisions, or any other tasks assigned by the organization
Prepare detailed analyses of various general ledger accounts and selected cost centers, as assigned
Review account and/or fund activity for accuracy, completeness, and reasonableness. Provides management with preliminary interpretations and explanations on trends, current and prior year changes and projected impact
Communicate effectively and timely to provide clear and accurate responses to questions and concerns raised by department managers
Research all issues or concerns pertaining to the budget performance report and funds collation report, as well as all supporting reports used by department managers and grant managers to manage revenues and expenses
Maintain capital portfolio including reconciling, organizing, tracking
Assists in pre-award functions such as preparing grant applications to ensure conformity with relevant sponsor guidelines, regulations and hospital policy. Coordinates collection of grant application materials and receipt of institutional reviews and approvals to ensure timely submission.
Works with appropriate institutional central offices (Research Administration, Research Finance, Accounts Payable, etc.) to troubleshoot and resolve matters May assist in budget preparation as needed.
Assists in the review of financial reports to monitor grant expenses to ensure compliance with sponsored award terms/conditions. Assists in preparing effort and financial reports for Principal Investigators to assist them in monitoring spending rates and planning for future spending needs.
To qualify you must have:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or closely related field
Two years of previous work experience
Analytical skills to resolve complex problems requiring the use of scientific, mathematical, or technical principles and in depth, experienced based cross functional knowledge
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations
Solid technical skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel including pivot tables
Knowledge of basic analytical models, tools and methods
A willingness and ability to learn and adopt new systems and technologies supporting Financial Reporting analytics
Interest and skill in effectively working with large data sets
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
