Job Summary
The project manager (PM) serves the Center for Rural Engagement (CRE) in maintaining and optimizing the project management system to adapt processes as new projects and funding streams come in. The PM works with the administrative project manager to ensure that requisitions related to project implementation and travel and are properly executed. The PM serves on the CRE's knowledge management team to guide and implement systems thinking, streamline systems, create efficiencies, and provide reports to multiple constituents. They also manage and execute logistics of CRE-related events, including the annual IU Rural Conference. The PM works with the fundraising and grants team and the community liaisons to write grants as opportunities arise.
Department Specific Responsibilities
Maintain and optimize project management system to adapt process as new projects and funding streams come in.
Ensure project implementation is properly executed
Guide and implement systems thinking, streamline systems, create efficiencies and provide reports to multiple constituents.
Participate in grant writing.
Manage and execute logistics of events.
Work on special projects.
General Responsibilities
Manages medium to large projects, from start to finish, ensuring on time completion within budget.
Develops project plan(s) and efficiently analyzes, tracks, forecasts, and reports on project metrics and shortfalls.
Coordinates and facilitates efforts of project team(s) consisting of various staff and hourly employees.
Communicates ongoing changes in tasks, goals, or performance. Collaborates to ensure that project objectives are achieved within established time frames.
Participates in client meetings, vendor/contract decisions, and development of project requirements and specifications.
May provide guidance and support to less experienced peers.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
Bachelor's degree in relevant field
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
2 years of relevant experience
Preferred
3 years of project management experience
5 years of experience in a fast paced professional environment
Expert level in a project management platform
Experience in IU systems
Spanish and/or Haitian Creole fluency
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered
SKILLS
Required
Possess very strong computer/typing skills and be proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe and project management softwares.
Knowledge and familiarity with Buy.IU, IU Motor Pool procedures, Egencia Corporate Travel and Airtable.
Ability to drive multiple projects to successful completion

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
