Job Summary: | Under the general supervision of the Information Systems and Technology Manager within the Office of Admissions and Recruitment in the Division of Enrollment Management (DEM), the Business Analyst will focus on leveraging current technologies for improved efficiency and productivity and play a significant role in planning for the future. The individual will work closely with technical staff and end-users to optimize enterprise systems and oversee business requirements, documentation, and training. The Business Analyst will provide solutions to business process needs by developing a full knowledge of existing applications, developing customizations, and/or suggesting product alternatives. This position will also assist in the day-to-day operations and become a content expert and owner.

Responsibilities: | Conducts business process analyses, needs assessments, and preliminary cost/benefit analyses in an effort to align information technology (IT) solutions with business initiatives. Prepares functional, system, and program specifications. Holds a higher level of technical skills and application in their work, variation in activities, longer-term work, latitude to apply skills to solve routine problems without review, and some latitude to devise the approach and method to performing assignments. Performs routine work without supervision, seeking assistance when guidelines are inadequate, significant deviations are proposed, or when unanticipated problems arise. - 10% Formulates and defines systems scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements
- 20% Devises or modifies moderately complex information systems including analysis of business and user needs, documenting requirements, and revising existing system logic difficulties as necessary
- 15% Participates in requirements planning and feasibility determination
- 10% Performs analyses and prepares reports to ensure that programs meet or exceed schedule commitments
- 20% Works on tasks including project or functional requirements, functional design, functional configuration, testing, and documentation
- 5% Trains, serves as a resource, and provides guidance to other IT business analysts on routine problems, work processes, and policies
- 5% May work with external vendors or service providers
- 5% Organize and assist in systems
- 5% Lead office-wide business process documentation and planning

Tasks: | - Develop project documents defining business requirements, functional designs, implementation plans, and schedule estimates
- Understand the core information systems of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Perceptive Content and Salesforce
- Develop, manage, and improve technical processes that span office functions by working closely with content experts and technology developers
- Oversee system upgrades by managing the timeline, testing plan, and path to production
- Assist in testing of software updates and new implementations
- Analyze and document software problems, fixes, and updates, and submit cases to software vendors
- Troubleshoot system errors and work to define and test technical solutions
- Document and organize office-wide business process design and implementation
- Monitor technical tasks and requests through the use of JIRA
- Report to office leadership on current projects

Qualifications: | Required: --Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills are required --Practical experience creating process documentation, business process review, business requirements, and developing and conducting testing plans are required --Experience with the process of developing, testing, prototyping, and implementing software is required --Understanding of databases and data structures is required
Preferred: --Experience with or ability to acquire in-depth working knowledge of various software programs including (SIS (Peoplesoft/Oracle Campus Solutions Student Information System), Perceptive Content (scanning and workflow software), SalesForce (CRM); prior experience working with Customer Relationship Management Systems preferred --Higher education work experience preferred --Experience in data analysis and query writing is preferred --Experience in project management is preferred --Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively across teams within a large organization --Skilled at managing multiple tasks --Capacity for evaluating current processes and identifying areas for improvement --A high degree of self-awareness; interest in giving and receiving positive and constructive feedback, as well as seeking out opportunities to learn and grow --Strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal communication skills; ability to actively listen to stakeholder needs and incorporate them into future planning --Demonstrated ability to maintain positive and respectful working relationships with others --A collaborative and service-oriented work style with an understanding of and appreciation for diversity as it applies to identity, thought, experience, and ability |
