REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead Advocacy Monitors proposed state legislation and other regulatory issues of interest to Cincinnati Children's particularly in the area of mental health services. Identify, track, and attempt public policy changes beneficial to Cincinnati Children's Including but not limited to child health and child mental health with state governments and state agencies. Develop the individual and institutional capacity to propose and respond to legislative and regulatory initiatives in CCHMC primary service area. Including but not limited to Medicaid regulation, Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services and Ohio Department of Health and special state programs.
Institutional Positions Prepare routine summary briefings for Senior Management of Cincinnati Children's and their Board of Trustees. Identify and coordinate opportunities for Senior Management and the Board to advocate on behalf children's health issues and support necessary legislative initiatives. Liaisons with Cincinnati Children's staff, physicians, legal team, marketing and communications team, planning and business development team and finance staff concerning public policy mental health care related issues in the primary care service areas. Know the market and needs of community mental health care for pediatrics. Having a working knowledge and understanding of Medicaid and how it operates in applicable states. Establish and maintain knowledge of Cincinnati Children's programs, policies, and services to effectively represent the organization.
Institution Liason Serves as the institutional liaison to local and state organizations in applicable states such as the Ohio Hospital Association, Ohio Children's Hospital Association. Coordinate Cincinnati Children's activities at a state level in concert with other child serving organizations including Children's Hospitals in Ohio as appropriate. Build community and community organizational support for Cincinnati Children's in eight county primary service area. Execute activities related to government relations and community outreach noted in the institution's strategic and communication plans. Ensure messaging is consistent with the goals and mission of the broader Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Required:
Bachelor's degree in a related field
7+ years of work experience in a related job discipline
Preferred: . Masters in Public Healthcare or Administration . Registered lobbyist
Unique Skills:
.Knowledge of Medicaid and health insurance industry.
