Within the Dean's Office Administrative Services Team, our Financial Services team serves as the trusted, comprehensive resource for financial information and business processes in the IU School of Medicine, providing meaningful, timely, and accurate data; and support for financial analysis, budget, accounting, reporting and business services. Financial Services accomplishes their mission through knowledge-sharing and collaboration, serving as the leader for effective management and stewardship of financial resources, ensuring compliance with university, state, and federal policy, while providing support to departments, centers, and key stakeholders of the IU School of Medicine.

Job Summary
The Indiana University School of Medicine Dean's Office has an exciting opportunity for a Financial Analyst to serve as a point of contact for financial analysis and budget matters. This role involves interpreting, analyzing, and communicating complex financial information in a manner that can be utilized by all levels of administration to aid in decision-making. This is a great opportunity for a service-oriented and analytical professional ready to gain additional exposure and skills in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment. The successful candidate will be able to act independently and proactively as they use their proven strengths in researching, analyzing and solving problems as well as proficiency with Excel. The ideal candidate is customer focused and has excellent relationship building skills.
Department Specific Responsibilities
Provides financial support for departments to include financial analysis, financial performance monitoring, and business planning for assigned departments.
Serves as a financial liaison between the departments and the Dean's Office, utilizing this position to provide financial advice and recommendations to both department leadership and Dean's Office senior management.
Works closely with finance staff throughout the school at month-end and fiscal year-end to ensure monthly financial and analytical procedures are completed to help facilitate timely and accurate financial reporting.
Contributes to the annual budget construction process, to include communicating budgetary processes and procedures, advising personnel of budget status and concerns, and recording budgetary data into financial applications.
Responsible for reviewing department budget submissions and ensuring submissions adhere school and university guidelines.
As a representative of the Dean's Office, this individual is expected to participate in activities that promote and maintain effective lines of communication, teamwork, and provides assistance with all other duties assigned. These activities may include participation in various committees, professional development opportunities, and helping to identify and develop process improvements.
General Responsibilities
Performs detailed periodic fiscal analysis of income statements, balance sheets, and cash flows and compiles trends to guide financial decisions.
Provides specialized financial analysis support using measures such as past financial performance, economic conditions, price, yield, stability, and investment risk.
Interprets fiscal policies and acts as a resource to department; may provide guidance to lower-level employees
May serve as fiscal delegate for department accounts.
Presents findings using tools such as spreadsheets, charts, graphs, and technical reports.
Verifies accuracy of data and makes recommendations for corrections.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
2 years in finance, financial administration, accounting, or related field

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
