Job Description: What We're Looking For
The Student Systems Programmer/Analyst is part of Baylor's Student System team that falls under the IT department of Information Systems and Services which is responsible for the ongoing maintenance, configuration, optimization, and support of Banner Student and related third party systems supporting University students. This position will report to the Director of Student Systems and will serve as a key partner to vendors and functional/operational staff in Graduate programs, Undergraduate Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar and other University stakeholders.
The Student Systems Programmer / Analyst will work with campus partners in support of student systems and data. This position is responsible for delivering excellent customer service to both end-users and business process owners; monitoring monthly and quarterly updates/releases for changes related to supported systems and data; identifying improvements, assisting with configurations, and responsible for testing and validating data. The Student Systems Programmer / Analyst must be self-directed, creative, strategic, innovative, and customer service oriented. Additionally, the successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

Be successful communicating and interacting with all campus populations including students, faculty, and staff.
SQL - Intermediate experience level required to perform the job
Proficiency understanding data and the ability to map data between systems
Excellent organizational, analytical, as well as oral and written communication skills
Extremely customer focused
Solid analytical and communication skills for continuous interaction with IT and the business users
Experience with the following technologies preferred:
ERP system experience (Banner Student preferred)
Knowledge of how data and documents flow into the main Student Systems (Applications, Decisions, Transcript info, Registration Holds)
Slate system experience, including T-SQL. Slate is used for application processing for undergraduate and graduate programs and integrates with Banner as the source of authority for Student Data.
PL/SQL Developer and/or other Oracle tools to pull data.
Integration experience to bring data together between systems.
Jira (used for project, task, issue tracking)
Microsoft Tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams)
A Bachelor's Degree in Management Information systems, Computer Science, or related field, three years of supporting Enterprise Application systems, and an active Christian faith are required. Additionally, three years of experience working with Student information systems and Higher Education experience are preferred. Hybrid and remote work will be considered for this position. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
What You Will Do
Work closely with business units to identify and present opportunities for improvement by analyzing and understanding existing business processes and documenting current state, then identifying gaps to an improved future state as it relates to Student integrations and data projects.
Meet with campus clients to assist with testing as it applies to Banner Student patches, quarterly releases or new technology.
Proactively examine the change impact of requests on systems and general business operations to help in determining the priority of needs and scope of work.
Provide consulting services to application teams, vendors, and business offices as it relates to designing and evaluating new data integrations, standards and procedures and policies for managing data between campus systems.
Effective communication and facilitation skills to converse successfully with technical and functional personnel.
Demonstrate problem solving, analytic and troubleshooting skills associated with Student systems.
Study manuals, texts, and tutorials as necessary to obtain the required expertise on programming methods, software tools and University information systems.
