Job Description: What We Are Looking For
The Senior Research Analyst is responsible for performing research on University data in order to report out to key stakeholders and support data-driven decisions across Enrollment Management and other units that rely on our analysis to make informed decisions. This new role will support a growing interest in predictive modeling and other advanced research needed to support University initiatives.
A Bachelors degree, five years of relevant experience, and an active Christian faith are required. A Master's degree and seven years of relevant experience are preferred. Preferred fields of study include statistics, data science, and computer science. Previous higher education experience is a plus. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Minimum Qualifications:
Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate significant amounts of information with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
At least an intermediate knowledge of statistics.
Experience joining, cleaning, and analyzing datasets from multiple sources.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Skeptical thinking when encountering results that seem too good to be true.
Ability to write concise reports and communicate findings to audiences of varied technical backgrounds.
Ability to manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines.
Experience with query languages such as SQL and statistics packages such as R, SAS, SPSS, JMP.
Additional Preferred Skills:
Experience with data analysis in higher education or social sciences.
Intermediate to Advanced skill using R or Python.
Experience using Machine Learning techniques.
Experience using Power BI or other reporting dashboards.
Technical expertise regarding data quality, SQL, logistic regression, and classification.
What You Will Do
Assist the EM Research Team in performing research projects that help all areas of Enrollment Management (Admissions, Student Financial Aid, Student Financial Accounts) to make data-informed decisions in support of the University's mission.
Query data from multiple databases and join in appropriate ways to answer research questions.
Cleanse data in preparation for analysis, including ensuring data quality, accuracy, and year-over-year congruency. Manage data consistently and efficiently.
Prepare reports or dashboards on research for department or University colleagues.
Clearly communicate results and recommendations to supervisor, and to other department or University colleagues as needed.
Work with other members of the Data & Analytics team to ensure best practices and provide internal metrics.
Perform other tasks as directed by supervisor.
