Job Description: What We Are Looking For
Baylor University's Division of Advancement is seeking an Assistant Vice President of Development - Schools and Colleges to lead a team with a focus on fundraising for Baylor's academic units. The ideal candidate for this role will have a proven track record in a similar position, a passion for the mission of Baylor University, and the ability and desire for some travel both by car and plane.
A Bachelor's degree, seven years relevant experience, and an active Christian faith are required. A Master's degree and ten years relevant experience are preferred. Experience will not be considered in lieu of the educational requirement and all applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
What You Will Do
Providing leadership and direction to Baylor University's fundraising efforts for academic units (schools and colleges). Effectively engage, cultivate, solicit and steward constituents in order to reach fundraising goals.
Supervise professionals within academic unit focused major gift team. Provide and document timely, consistent direction and coaching; strategize portfolio assignments and annual/campaign fundraising goals to maximize philanthropy and connection to Baylor University.
Build, grow and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors.
Collaborate with respective deans, directors/senior directors, or other senior administrators in developing impactful philanthropic agendas-consistent with Baylor's and colleges' /units/ strategic plans-for major and prospective donors.
Provide consistent communication and coordination with the Associate Vice President for Development to drive staff behavior, maintain and build a positive culture, and establish efficient and productive methods.
In coordination with the Associate Vice President for Development, Major Gifts, promote and contribute to a collaborative fundraising approach between regional development professionals and other development professionals across the division to establish creative, donor-centered fundraising strategies.
With the leadership of the Associate Vice President, establish yearly measurable goals and objectives and related metrics for new gift commitments secured, proposals made, new prospects qualified, and prospect meetings held.
Assist, as requested by the Associate Vice President for University Development and Vice President for Development, with programs to increase giving to Baylor.
Collaborate with other University Development team members to inspire trust, encourage creative thinking, and collaborate with other Baylor staff and volunteers to significantly increase private gifts to Baylor.

Special Knowledge, Skills or Other Abilities: Lead with professionalism and integrity to set the tone for the regional development team; excellent interpersonal skills required;strong oral and written communication skills; strong computer skills necessary; strong Christian commitment. Financial integrity; have an understanding of the University's mission; able and willing to work evenings/weekends as needed. Strong organizational skills a must. Maintain confidential information and ability to adhere and enforce university policies and procedures.
Level of Independence: Instructions and guidelines define overall goals and priorities. This position may have the authority to affect, interpret, or implement policies and procedures. This position provides consultation and expert advice to management and is involved in planning business objectives. This position resolve matters on behalf of management. This position has the authority to make decisions without direction from supervisor.
Nature of Work Supervised: Supervises a department or group of diversified functions where duties involve establishing procedures and performance standards.
Level of Supervision Provided: Selects staff; manages performance through assessment and coaching; makes recommendations about compensation and career path.
