We are seeking an Applications Development Manager to join Zions Bancorporation. The Applications Development Manager plays a key role in managing a staff of application software developers and for successfully delivering software applications and/or integrations to meet business objectives for the Retail Digital Banking Platforms team. The Applications Development Manager is responsible for software development activities and processes.
This position will provide the opportunity to work with a cross functional team to develop and support a widely used customer facing family of applications. The successful candidate will work with a variety of disciplines to negotiate schedules and strategies for implementation and integration of software features and components. Daily opportunities for creative thinking and problem solving.
The Applications Development Manager will:
Provide software development expertise to actively contribute to the teams' deliverables
Track and continuously improve project quality and team productivity
Function as the initial and ongoing contact person for projects requiring technical resources
Software application responsibilities may include one or more of the following portfolio areas: Channel, Deposits Operations, Bankcard, Lending, Credit, Finance, Compliance, Treasury Management and/or Information Technology
Partners with the Project Management Office, Infrastructure, Business Analysis, Quality Assurance and Application Support areas to deliver software applications
Keep abreast of development best practices and techniques as well as providing for staff૿ technical education and training. Hire and provide performance management of staff members including recommendations for successor development.
Plan, coordinate and direct software activities in accordance with PMO Project Delivery Process (SDLC)
Create department cost center budgets and ensure adherence to budgetary and financial processes and deadlines
Contribute to and share responsibility for developing and accomplishing departmental and strategic objectives and initiatives
Work closely with decision makers in other department divisions to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost effective technology solutions
Meet with application and system owners to determine needs, solicit feedback on service levels and implement solutions to address issues

Technical Experience and Qualifications:
In-depth knowledge of software architecture, technical software design, and development required
General technical knowledge of networks, distributed and mainframe platforms, and associated development environments.
Ability to use industry software design tools and software development tools.
General knowledge of web services, middleware, SOA and related technologies.
Requires a Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Technology with emphasis in Software Development and 6+ years working experience with IT application development, database technologies such as Oracle, managing multiple large, complex projects or other directly related experience
Programming/Python/Scripting - Example - Basic knowledge of programming language like Python
Integration Fabric - Understanding of a restful services architecture and how that relates to Data as a Service
Cloud Architecture - Strong knowledge of Public Cloud Platform (AWS, Azure, GCP)
CI/CD Pipeline - Ability to design and direct the management of a software product for continuous integration/continuous delivery while adhering to policies and standards for risk and safety
Site Reliability - Understanding of reliability needs and strategies
Virtualization/Containers - Experience with containerization of applications
Excellent project, time management skills and organizational skills with the ability to exercise independent judgment, effectively prioritize, and execute tasks while under pressure.
Excellent management, collaboration, interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written with the ability to communicate effectively with business and technical staff and management
Ability to set and meet goals and maintain high quality work standards.
Proven ability to identify, analysis and solve problems.
Strong attention to detail.

Location: This position is located at the Zions Technology Center in Midvale, UT. We have a hybrid schedule of 4 days in the office and 1 day at home if you are within the Salt Lake area.
