Under the direction of the School's Contracts and Grants Manager, the incumbent is responsible for the financial and administrative management of assigned complex federal and private contracts and grants as well as other extramural and intermural funds that support various research and instructional programs within the School of Social Sciences. As part of the School's Financial Management Team, the incumbent has independent decision-making authority, policy analysis and interpretation and independent problem-solving responsibilities that requires on-going interaction with all levels of university and agency faculty and staff. Incumbent is responsible for providing specific direction to assigned faculty and staff to assure compliance with recent revisions to contract and grant costing principals and university policy. This requires knowledge of: university policies and procedures, agency specific contracts and grants policies; material management to include purchasing and equipment acquisition principles; personnel/payroll policies and procedures; recharge principles; research subcontracting concepts; indirect cost principles; policies and practices related to Federal CAS and Uniform Guidance requirements. This position is eligible for hybrid/remote work.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in administrative analysis or an equivalent combination of education and experience in using PI reports, Kuali Financial Systems transactions, and knowledge of general accounting proceduresEnter
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Thorough knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems. Ability to independently gather required information to organize, and perform financial analysis assignments. Proven ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner. Proven ability using spreadsheet and database software for complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports. Proven interpersonal skills with peers throughout the organization; strong service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. Proven ability using organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment. Ability to adapt to changing priorities. Ability to function as a member of a team. Thorough knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources. Demonstrated skills in pre and post -award financial analysis, planning and administration with complex multi-million dollar budgets from multiple agencies and UC funds that fluctuate from month to month. This includes audit planning and preparation, rate analysis, cost/benefit analysis, and research program fund administration Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, campus administrators, faculty, staff, students, and visitors of various ethnic, social, and educational backgrounds. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with a diverse level of people and backgrounds. Values and delivers high quality, professional, responsive, and innovative service. Experience working as part of professional team and ability to handle all Business & Finance Office matters with tact, discretion, and confidentiality. Working knowledge of federal, state and University regulations relating to contracts and grants administration to include Uniform Guidance and CAS applications. Demonstrated skill in contract and grant budget preparation, analysis and projection. This includes cost and revenue analysis, projecting income and expense trends, preparing income and expense statements, and preparing financial projections.
