The Community Development Extension Educator serves the people and communities of Wisconsin by addressing local, statewide, and national issues, improving lives through research-based education, fostering partnerships and action, and facilitating positive impacts that support: thriving individuals and families; effective organizations; healthy and vibrant communities; and strong economies.
This Community Development Extension Educator position will serve Vernon County, and surrounding communities. The Community Development Extension Educator designs, delivers, and evaluates research-based educational programming and services aligned with the position's programmatic focus: building the capacity of entrepreneurs, community organizations, and coalitions. The Educator will assess needs and develop educational responses (e.g. workshops, peer networks, facilitated processes). Initial work will be to engage in the delivery of existing community economic development efforts (e.g., entrepreneurial ecosystem development and targeted business assistance) and develop educational curriculum and technical assistance in support of our community partners and local organizations that will build entrepreneurial capacity, bringing together strategic business and community leaders around addressing key community issues (e.g. building childcare capacity through systematic support structures.) The Educator will collaborate with local partners already serving the area.
This position will also play a lead role in supporting the ongoing development and delivery of a statewide effort, the Rural Wisconsin Entrepreneurship Initiative, that serves entrepreneurship in Vernon County and throughout Wisconsin. The Educator will work with a team of colleagues to refine and deliver existing and planned RWEI programs to increase the success of rural entrepreneurs in Wisconsin by addressing three areas of need: (1) business development assistance; (2) rural entrepreneurial ecosystems; and (3) access to finance.
As part of the position's county-based work, the Community Development Extension Educator connects Vernon County and its communities to other Community Development and Extension resources and supports priority local initiatives through the facilitation of group and community engagement processes.
