Position Summary:
The UCI Center for Clinical Research (UCI-CCR) is driven to improve the health and wellness of people in Orange County and the world by providing life-saving clinical trials designed to strengthen and accelerate the pathway of discovery from the medical laboratory to the clinic. Built as an excellent clinical research program designed to serve our patients, community, investigators and partners with a high level of efficiency, integrity and quality. With hundreds of clinicians and researchers dedicated to innovating, accelerating, growing and inspiring new ways to address and treat disease. Their expertise gives us an edge in treatments and trials related to a full spectrum of conditions.
Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and organizational policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways. Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Contacts are both internal and external to the department. Oversees the pre-award budgeting process for sponsored clinical trials. Manages clinical trial accounts. Helps to develop department budget and oversees the compliance of all charges. Manages the invoicing and collection of funds from sponsors. Ensures funds are allocated appropriately once received. Presents reporting and financial analysis to leadership. Supervises department Financial Analysts.

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
3 years in operations and management, thorough knowledge of university policies and financial systems.
Thorough knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems. Ability to independently gather required information to organize and perform financial analysis assignments. Proven ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner. Proven ability using spreadsheet and database software for complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports. Proven interpersonal skills with peers throughout the organization; strong service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. Proven ability using organizational skills to multi-task in a high-volume environment. Ability to adapt to changing priorities. Ability to function as a member of a team. Thorough knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
Preferred:
Related Master's (MBA) preferred or certifications (CPA).
Client services oriented; has good listening, communication, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
