POSITION: Full-Time Research, Instruction, and Collection Development Librarian; Reference Librarian; Library Services; Haverhill Campus; 37.5 hours/week, Monday-Thursday 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, and Friday 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM; MCCC/MTA Unit Professional Position; Pay Grade 5
SUMMARY: Northern Essex Community College is hiring a professional librarian to become an integral member of the Haverhill Campus Library team. The ideal candidate will have academic library experience and be open to learning and developing new skills as an information professional. The selected candidate will become part of a strong team of professional librarians, and contribute to our student-focused information literacy instruction and research assistance programs. The candidate will contribute to the development of NECC Library services by participating on campus committees and attending meetings with library networks and consortia. As an area of special emphasis, this position will provide leadership in collection development and management for all NECC library collections.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Specific duties for this position include:
Research, Instruction and Reference Services (75%)
Provide in-person, online, virtual, phone and email reference services and assistance to students and faculty
Actively participate in the design, delivery, and assessment of library instruction, consistent with the information literacy framework laid out by the ALA/ACRL
Collaborate with faculty on developing information literacy-based student assignments, and targeting library instruction toward a shared goal
Use the Springshare platform of products to develop and promote resources for information literacy and library services
Provide circulation services to students and faculty in a positive, customer service focused manner
Participate in shelving of materials
Assist with providing information services at an academic technology desk, including the use of printers, copiers, scanners, course management systems, and other information sharing devices and programs
Assist in the development and management of the library's online presence through social media and other outreach efforts
Be forward thinking, and readily participate in professional development opportunities
Collection development and Management (25%)
Development and assessment of collections to ensure they support the research, teaching and learning needs of the entire NECC community
Serve as a point of contact to new groups or programs that may have library resource needs
Run reports using Koha ILS on a regularly scheduled basis to assist with collection maintenance and development decisions
Develop collection development and management strategies in consultation with the other research librarians
Make collection development suggestions based on observed need and professional knowledge
MLS, MLIS, or the equivalent advanced library degree;
A minimum of 3 years of experience providing library services;
Interest in delivering classroom-based instruction
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
3 years' experience in a college or university library setting, preferably in reference, instruction, and/or student services;
Experience providing classroom-based instruction;
Collection development and maintenance experience;
Fluency in major library databases;
Bilingual (Spanish/English)
Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse population

Additional Information:
GRADE AND SALARY: Anticipated salary range is $59,244 to $64,111 annually with complete fringe benefit package. Complete fringe benefit package including competitive health insurance, free dental insurance, basic life insurance, long-term disability insurance, paid sick, vacation and personal leave, educational benefits for employee/spouse/dependents, and excellent retirement benefits. Actual salary calculated in compliance with MCCC/MTA classification system. Official transcripts will be required at the time of hire.
