Reporting to the Controller-Operations, the Budget Analyst is responsible for complex accounting, planning and modeling duties which include managing the School's overall budget process; creating and analyzing monthly budget reports; forecasting anticipated financial results including debt ratios to ensure compliance with debt covenants; developing and delivering budget training; creating complex models to assist with tuition, capitalization of assets, and capital asset cashflows; and partnering with the Controller-Operations and the Vice President of Finance and Administration.
Responsibilities:
Budget Process Management
Set up the budget system School-wide
Develop and deliver training to budget managers
Develop and manage the budget calendar
Provide direction to budget managers during process
Create budget reports
Working the VP, Finance and Controller-Operations, analyze budget outcomes and make changes as appropriate
Modeling and Forecasting
Develop/refine scenario analysis for anticipated financial results
Prepare complex financial models to assist with long-term financial planning
Understand fixed vs. variable costs and build appropriate models
Provide alternative recommendations for budget surpluses and deficits
Business Process Re-engineering
Recommend process improvements
Review policies and procedures related to the finance office
Launch approved process improvements including development and implementation of communication plan
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree obtained through a formal four-year program
Professional certification such as CFA or advanced degree preferred
5+ years of experience in accounting, budgeting or forecasting
Experience with an integrated finance system
Advanced MS Excel skills, including pivot tables
Superior attention to detail
Strong customer service skills
Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple demands
Excellent organizational skills
Effective communication skills, both oral and written at all levels of the organization
