To provide technical engineering and planning that meets the present and future requirements and needs to insure that Blue Grass Energy is providing safe, efficient and reliable energy services.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluates and analyzes system outages and blinks.
Makes recommendation of corrective actions that may be taken to improve system reliability.
Responsible for the preparation of Blue Grass Energy Construction Work Plans.
Responsible for the preparation of the Long Range Work Plans of Blue Grass Energy.
Works with other Blue Grass Energy personnel and East KY Power personnel in developing the power requirements study.
Conducts engineering studies as assigned.
Reviews and analyzes voltage charts, load data and other engineering studies to keep abreast of system status, make recommendations on possible corrective action and resolve power quality issues.
Prepares annual system loss study.
Prepares annual reliability study.
Works with IT department on distribution automation.
Develops and maintains a thorough knowledge of all application specifications of the Rural Utilities Service.
Develops and maintains a thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code and the National Electrical Code as it pertains to the operations of Blue Grass Energy.
Develops and maintains a thorough knowledge of PSC rules and regulations.
Assists in the inspection of work orders to ensure compliance with RUS specification, National Electrical Safety Code and other safety rules & regulations.
Stays abreast of the latest developments in the electric utility industry.
Follows BGEnergy Safety Manual as well as BGEnergy policies and procedures.

Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) certification or ability to obtain PE license after meeting the experience requirements expected.
Ability to read and interpret documents and reports. Must be able to perform complicated mathematical calculations. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Must be able to work with GIS and engineering modeling systems to provide creative solutions. Strong computer skills required. Must possess and maintain a valid Kentucky driver’s license.
