The UCI Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders (UCI MIND) is Orange County's only state and federally funded Alzheimer's Disease Research Center. The Institute is composed of faculty and staff from multiple Departments and Schools, ranging from basic laboratory scientists to physician investigators, with a common goal of research discovery to improve the diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and cure of age-related brain diseases, especially Alzheimer's disease.
Under the general direction of the UCI MIND Executive Director of Development, the Development Associate engages in annual fundraising at both the annual giving and major gift level, provides project management, and may provide limited administrative support. The incumbent implements specific plans for fundraising and alumni relations programs and activities, and administers, and implements an established fundraising project or program of limited scope and complexity. The Development Associate provides basic analysis of program trends and results; assists in developing materials; and coordinates work of support staff. Position is expected to raise gift dollar amounts as established by the Executive Director of Development. The budget for this position supports a salary between $64,400-$70,000.

Required:
One to three years of experience in a development setting.
Experience in independently planning all aspects of special events including developing and managing a budget
Experience with marketing tools: data visualization, image and design tools, social media, and productivity management.
Experience developing donor relationships
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Must possess a valid California driver license
Good organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills. Working knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc. Proven ability to use MS Office programs, donor management databases, and familiarity with the Internet to conduct searches. Ability to distinguish differences between types of gifts and the giving minimums associated with the various types (annual gift, multi-year commitment, endowed scholarships, endowed chair, planned gift, corporate and foundation relations, etc.) Skill to develop reports, proposals and external relations materials. Knowledge of UCI policies and accounting forms such as invoices, travel vouchers, purchase orders, and check requests. Skills in maintaining confidentiality. Working knowledge of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques. Demonstrate a foundation of knowledge regarding the fundraising cycle stages/processes. Good written and interpersonal communication skills to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies. Working knowledge of the location, its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure.
