DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
The Office of Loan Programs designs, delivers and manages housing assistance programs for the recruitment and retention of faculty and senior managers in support of the education, research and public service missions of the University of California. We strive to maintain superior customer satisfaction by providing timely, accurate and cost-effective mortgage products, researching new product alternatives and evaluating industry processes and changes to continually improve delivery of services.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Loan Servicing Analyst 2 will work within the Office of Loan Programs, reporting directly to the Loan Servicing Manager. The Loan Servicing Analyst 2 uses developing knowledge of loan accounting and servicing procedures to complete the on-going servicing functions for mortgage loans made under the Mortgage Origination, Graduated Payment, Interest Only, and Supplemental Home Loan Programs. Applies applicable policies and procedures to complete a variety of tasks including performing mortgage loan accounting for existing loans on behalf of the University and outside investors, data entry into the Servicing system, data collection and assembly, and preparing reports to meet internal reporting requirements. Works on loan servicing processes of limited to moderate scope where analysis of data requires a review of a variety of factors. This position is an 'Assigned Employee' as defined in The University of California Home Loan Program Corporation Services Agreement (Services Agreement) dated February 1, 2014, by and between the Regents of the University of California and the University of California Home Loan Program Corporation (Corporation), a California non-profit public benefit corporation. The Corporation was formed to assume the residential lending activities of the Office of Loan Programs.
Responsibilities
30% Performs daily entry of hazard insurance policies into the Servicing system, verifies adequate coverage is in place according to requirements. Performs timely follow-up on expiring and canceled policies. Completes monthly audit of expiring policies and makes recommendations for actions to be taken to resolve lapsed policies. Prepares correspondence to borrowers in a professional and timely manner.
25% Bridges over and activates new mortgage loans into the Servicing system. Analyzes reports from the Loan Origination system and enters financial data from the report into the system for each loan. Reconciles settlement statements and enters into the Servicing system.
25% Prepares loan payoff analysis upon notification of pending payoff. Prepares reconveyance documents timely upon payoff and completes audit, storage, mailing and tracking of paid off loan file documents.
10% Compiles payroll deduction authorizations forms for processing by management. Gathers data and analyzes reports to complete monthly allocation report to Management to determine available loan resources by campus. Gathers data to update monthly Resale Indices report and submits to management for posting to the website.
5% Performs property tax collection procedures according to University guidelines. Analyzes tax delinquency reports from vendor and notifies borrowers of delinquencies to ensure payment of taxes. Performs timely follow up with borrowers regarding payment delinquencies. Prepares quarterly report to management for outstanding taxes.
5% Manages workflow of on-going servicing and administrative tasks while managing competing priorities.
Experience
Minimum of 2 years of mortgage Loan Servicing work experience preferred
Skills and Abilities Required Qualifications
Skill using common desktop and web applications.
Effective oral and written communication skills to present information in a clear and concise manner.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in accounting, and general knowledge of mortgage loan servicing procedures.
Experience performing data entry, accounting and servicing processes.
Familiarity with mortgage industry loan servicing systems preferred.
Familiarity with institutional lending, and FNMA / FHLMC secondary market practices and procedures.
Education Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
This position has been approved for a hybrid work arrangement and will be required to report to work onsite in Oakland, CA at least 2 days per week (Tuesday and Wednesday).

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The full salary range shows the growth potential for this position and the pay scale is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
