Position Details:
RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct and assist in research activities on a variety of projects, including survey administration, data entry, data cleaning and analysis.
Help plan and organize the work of students and temporary employees on a day-to-day basis.
Conduct research activities.
Communicate with external agencies to obtain and transfer information and to coordinate the provision of services.
Perform tasks associated with projects, including research, survey administration, data entry and analysis, and report preparation and delivery.
Prepare written and oral reports of applied research projects conducted by DGSS for delivery to contracting agencies and interested audiences.
Prepare and deliver presentations, including PowerPoint or similar audio-visual format presentations, conveying both substance and interpretation of applied research projects to contracting agencies and interested audiences.
Perform other duties assigned by the DGSS Director.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Earned master's degree in criminal justice, political science, sociology, evaluation, data sciences or other related field by the time of hire.
Demonstrated social science research skills, which may include survey research methods and practices, data entry and analysis, interviews and/or focus groups.
Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills, as evidenced by successful performance in personnel management, research management of multiple projects involving multiple team members, evaluation, and critical decision-making.
Demonstrated effective written communication skills as evidenced by publications and/or technical reports.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. in criminal justice, political science, sociology, evaluation, data sciences or other related field by the time of hire.
Demonstrated experience with diverse audiences and constituents.
Evidence of effective communication and collaboration skills with academic professionals, support staff, and diverse internal and external constituencies.
Demonstrated history of securing grants and contracts that build capacity and provide direct delivery of contracted services.
Ability to take on new responsibilities and work effectively in an environment of change.
JOB EXPECTATIONS
The ability to travel year-round using own reliable transportation (mileage reimbursed) is required. Flexibility with evening and weekend work in communities is required. Mileage will be reimbursed for work-related travel at the approved state rate if using a private vehicle. While using a private or WSU motor pool vehicle for official business, must have current automobile liability insurance (meeting the requirements described in RCW46.30.020 and RCW 46.29.090) and possess a valid driver's license.

Employment is contingent upon a successful background check and reference checks.
Additional Information:
Annual Salary:$68,000.00 - $80,000.00
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
