ADMISSIONS OPERATIONS (BL-OPER-IUBLA)

The Office of Admissions Operations provides strategic planning and operational support for recruitment, marketing, and processing activities, local and enterprise systems, and business processes. The department conducts research and investigation on marketing strategies and technical tools such as those used for web architecture, multimedia production, social media, programming and analysis by lead higher education institutions as well as private sectors to offer the highest level of service to potential and current students for Indiana University.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

• Serves as the main contact for outside vendors for collecting, understanding, and processing recruitment data.
• Defines, develops, maintains, and is responsible for loading data from external and internal sources into our Customer Relational Management (CRM) system. Structures and submits data to and from outside entities, conforming to unique specifications and requirements.
• Performs technical tasks including new process design, development and analysis, definition of program specifications, and database coding. Analyzes suspect and prospect student data and prepares information used in internal operations, external reporting and internal purposes, including manipulation of student data for estimating and projecting recruitment efforts for the Office of Admissions.
• Responsible for guiding ideas from the development phases through implementation; and makes independent judgments.
• Learns new platforms and toolsets. Maintains and supports existing systems in their current operating environments.
• Provides instructions and guidance to staff, plans work, provides feedback and establishes timelines for team projects.

General Responsibilities

• Provides analysis of existing data and data structures and satisfies ad-hoc reporting/analysis requests.
• Creates reporting specifications for new reports/dashboards/analytical tools and assists in testing/validation; ensures integrity, accessibility, and accuracy of reports/dashboards and data structures; reviews and approves user requests for access to reporting data and tools.
• Consults with faculty and/or staff to identify new business reporting needs and provides guidance and interpretation of complex environments and data.
• Documents data analysis efforts (data sources, reporting specifications, tools, issue/problem resolutions).
• Researches and stays up-to-date on emerging technologies and data analysis tools.

EDUCATION

Required

• Bachelor's degree (preferably in computer science, information science, or related field)

WORK EXPERIENCE

Preferred

• Some experience in data analysis/reporting or related experience

Preferred

• Specific experience with PL/SQL, SQL Developer, Oracle or PostgreSQL Databases, DSS, IUIE, IU Student Information Systems and Customer Relationship Management systems.
• Previous experience working with a team and Agile project management.
• Experience with data clean up and data quality.
• Experience with getting data from multiple sources, creating data flow processes, translating data and creating exports of data.
• Strong technical skills and competence in database applications and scripting languages
• Ability to summarize and communicate data analysis
• Excellent critical thinking skills

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Bloomington, Indiana

This position is eligible for remote work or to work a hybrid schedule (mix between remote and in-person work), subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.

This position has an annual salary of $46,000 depending on experience, skills, and knowledge.
