Institutional Analytics produces official university reports on admissions, enrollment, retention, graduation rates, degree completions, and financial aid for Indiana University and all its campuses. The Enterprise Business Intelligence (EBI) team is part of the Institutional Data Services group. The EBI team is made up of talented IT professionals providing best practices and effective methodologies in support of enhanced efficiency and decision making. The EBI team has established core values of trust, collaboration, continuous improvement, accountability, and professional development. The EBI team creates and maintains university-wide data and reports which support IU's decision makers.

You'll be doing advanced consulting for end users, department/business stakeholders, and technical teams to gather business requirements, identify optimal business intelligence (BI) data solutions, and bridge those needs with the use of business intelligence tools. • Provides advanced consulting for end users, department/business stakeholders, and technical teams to gather business requirements, identify optimal business intelligence (BI) data solutions, and bridge those needs with the use of business intelligence tools.
• Builds and maintains advanced BI solutions that address the data, reporting, business analytics, predictive analytics, and forecasting needs of the department and/or school's business and educational operations.
• Leads in identifying data sources, modeling, and integrating data necessary for the design and maintenance of standard and ad hoc reports and analyses as well as visual solutions such as dashboards; collects, integrates, and interprets/analyzes data from numerous sources, both internal and external; conducts benchmarking activities as needed.
• Acts as a liaison between business and technology units; proactively identifies, builds, and maintains relationships with business process owners and colleagues; provides stakeholders with necessary analysis documentation for buy-in, leadership decision, and implementation.
• Makes recommendations to leadership for improving BI-related processes and procedures; ensures and reviews technical documentation (dashboards, reports, etc.); ensures and reviews documentation of data definitions, business rules, FAQs, and similar end user materials.
• Researches and stays up-to-date on the latest business intelligence trends, standards, and best practices; may contribute on committees and communities of practice to share business intelligence approaches and best practices.
• May serve as project leader; often provides guidance to junior peers.

This position is posted at the Advanced Level but may be filled at the Career Level depending on the candidate's qualifications. Although they will be similar, the duties and responsibilities may differ if filled at the lower rank. Please see the qualifications for each level listed below

EDUCATION

Required

• Bachelor's degree (preferably in computer science, mathematics, statistics, information systems or related field)

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

• 5 years of BI / data visualization tools, SQL engines, data reporting/analytics development, statistical analysis/interpretation of data, or related experience.

Preferred

• Experience in data-related technologies such as Database Systems, SQL, data modeling, ETL, SQL tuning, Tableau, data virtualization, etc.
• Experience resolving highly complex integration issues involving multiple technologies and business areas
• Experience with Agile BI development techniques and processes
• Experience with getting data from multiple sources, creating data flow processes, translating data and delivering data to end users
• Experience with Quality Assurance and test driven development
• Familiarity with Indiana University systems
• Experience in data reporting/analytics development, preferably in higher education
• Experience acting as a liaison between business and technology units, leading BI projects, and the communication skills to match the shifting demands of different situations.

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Bloomington, Indiana

This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the option for remote work in the future; however, this is subject to change based on university policy and business needs.

$60,000 - $85,000 per year based on experience and internal equity within the department.
