Job Summary The Payroll Analyst will be responsible to:
Participate in the development of advanced payroll systems such as employee self- service, tax updates, and system upgrades. Plan, develop, test, and implement system enhancements in accordance with project plans. Attend payroll project planning or payroll policy meetings and provides input into planned system enhancements, alerting implementation teams to potential issues as they arise, as well as input into policy guidance
Oversee the production of payroll individually as needed or in partnership with Payroll leadership. Input specified data according to established systems and procedures. Prepare and process related forms and documentation.
Train payroll staffs on daily activities and provide guidance and direction as assigned on payroll operations and procedures and related matters. Provide assistance to other support staff in evaluating and resolving related problems and issues. Recommend and assist in implementing change in internal systems and procedures. Participate in the performance review of payroll support staff.
Receive, review and respond to wage and child support and other notices. Balance, prepare and submit payment for all withholding orders.
Verify and record payroll information and obtains hours confirmation to release payment as needed. Document and follow-up on all discrepancies including documents missing hours, taxes, wage, and authorizations/ approvals required for pay check disbursements, and compliance with hospital personnel policies. Verify adjustments for voided and manual checks and/or special check requests.
Perform payroll logistics/processing activities to ensure timely and accurate crediting of payment to accounts, reconciliation and confirmation payroll through the generation and analysis of reports. Fund tax account, ensure direct deposit and check issuance transmission is processed to banks.
Perform compliance and functional audits. Ensure compliance of hospital personnel, payroll and benefit policies with federal and state requirements. Maintain all appropriate tax information for employees and the hospital in accordance with IRS code and filing requirements. Review exception reports prior to pay sheet load, calculate pay sheets and corrects exceptions as needed; follow up on missing pay sheet data. Ensure compliance with all regulatory/tax requirements.
Record pay and tax liabilities on the payroll and ledger systems, subsequently adjusting payroll as needed. Provide employees and dept managers with standardized information as appropriate
To qualify you must have:
A Bachelor's Degree in Business or a closely related field and a min of 2 years of payroll administration experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience in payroll processing or a similar role, with an understanding of payroll processes, laws, and regulations
Proficiency in using payroll software and Microsoft Office apps (Excel)
Knowledge of payroll tax regulations and reporting requirements
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations
Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve payroll issues
Excellent organizational and time management skills to meet payroll deadlines
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
Familiarity with Kronos timekeeping system is a plus
