Hybrid Remote Schedule
This role has the option to be a blend of remote and onsite work if department and business needs allow and with approval from direct supervision. Our hybrid remote work schedule combines three (3) days on premises with up to two (2) days remote.
Considering Different Levels
The following levels are open for consideration: Resource Planning Analyst and Senior Resource Planning Analyst.
Both skill levels are being considered and the person chosen for the position will be placed in the level in which they are experienced. Please see below for description of both levels.
Key Roles
Resource Planning Analyst
This position is responsible for collecting data and conducting complex analyses, creating reports, drawing inferences, and making recommendations. The position serves as a resource to EKPC and member systems by performing analytical work for a broad range of customers. In addition, the position provides business information to leadership.
Senior Resource Planning Analyst
This position is responsible for extensive data collection and conducting complex analyses, creating detailed reports, drawing inferences, and making recommendations. The position uses BI applications/functions, and performs analytical work for a broad range of customers for EKPC and member systems. In addition, the position provides business information to leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Resource Planning Analyst
Researches, analyzes, and evaluates data and information to make prudent business recommendations relating to power supply resource needs, load forecasting, demand side management, market research, and load research both short-term and long-term in nature.
Provides analysis to a wide range of EKPC staff, and member systems' management and staff.
Develops and maintains extensive knowledge of current PJM market environment and associated software tools.
Uses software to evaluate and/or project load growth, components of load, supply growth, components of supply, power supply cost growth, components of power supply cost, components and forecasts of market prices / forward prices, load research data, including individual generating unit analysis.
Participates in the development of regulatory filings such as the Integrated Resource Plan, and certificate applications for new generating capacity, rate cases, PSC, and AG interrogatories.
Conducts specific research on the external environment to collect, process, and analyze information related to the energy industry.
Performs analyses using a variety of statistical techniques, including regression, payback / breakeven, net present value, variance analysis, uncertainty and risk analysis, linear programming, etc.
Routinely use mathematical, marketing, financial, economic, and statistical models to complete tasks; create models and interpret model output.
Develops and maintains spreadsheets and databases.
Develops analytical and statistical models, spreadsheet and program based.
Serves as a leader on internal project teams, as well as external teams including member system teams and consultants as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Senior Resource Planning Analyst
Develops and maintains extensive knowledge of current PJM market environment and associated software tools.
Develops guiding principles and best practices for determining which software tools will be needed for specific PS/RP applications involving reporting and analytics.
Provides leadership for future enhancements and improvements of PS/RP oriented applications and BI solutions.
Serves as the subject matter expert and coordinates with various departments on report development, support, and testing.
Participates in reviews of all project efforts and ensures completeness of the architectural approach and documentation.
Ensures business requirements are satisfied by the most efficient and effective architectural solutions.
Researches, analyzes and evaluates data and information to develop prudent business recommendations relating to power supply resource needs, load forecasting, demand side management, market research and load research both short-term and long-term in nature.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in related area required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
Experience: Five (5) years of related experience.

Experience: Seven (7) years of related resource planning experience.
Skills and Abilities:
Exceptional analytical (including statistical analysis), conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
Strong knowledge of analytical/statistical software programs such as Python, C/C++, R, SAS, and Visual Basic.
Must have technical working experience with designing, building, installing, configuring and supporting business intelligence applications and underlying database infrastructure.
Thorough experience with database platforms, with strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
Thorough technical knowledge of current resource planning software including RTSim and similar software applications.
Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a variety of personnel at all levels of the organization, including external contacts.
