Job Overview
The University of Cincinnati's Center for the Enhancement of Teaching & Learning (CET&L) invites applications for an Associate Director to join a thriving and engaged team of scholars and professionals supporting excellence in educational development at one of the nation's top 25 public-research universities. Under the general direction of CET&L's Director, the Associate Director of Pedagogy & Technology will be responsible for developing CET&L's face-to-face and online programming and resources related to supporting high quality design and teaching in hybrid and online spaces, including supporting the effective and innovative use of the Learning Management System (LMS) and other educational technologies.
The Associate Director will work in close coordination with Undergraduate Affairs, Digital Technology Solutions (IT), and UC Online to deliver high-quality, learner-centered support for technology throughout the curriculum.
Duties include management of the CET&L's existing efforts at the intersection of teaching and technology, including guiding the use of technology in course design, content-delivery, student engagement, accessibility, and the assessment/evaluation of student learning. The position works collaboratively with other CET&L staff to contribute to the center's ongoing operations; candidates must have the ability to organize and effectively communicate complex information, problem solve, and apply creative solutions. Other essential qualities include a strong team orientation, flexibility, interpersonal communication skills, public speaking experience, program development, strong time management, and prior teaching or training experience.
This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule with 2 remote working days per week. Residence must be within the Cincinnati Tri-State area (OH/IN/KY) with reasonable distance to campus to have the ability to report to campus as required. Remote work arrangements are subject to change in accordance with university policies.
Essential Functions
Duties must be directly related to conducting, directing, or assisting in an academic program or academic unit, or directing or assisting with the direction of an academic advising office or center. These duties must comprise of at least 75% or more of the work assigned to the position.
Administrative work elements are considered secondary, non-academic, and must not exceed 25% of the work assigned.
Academic director positions located in an academic department or academic unit may use this title as a secondary appointment for faculty members serving as directors. Such appointments would remain secondary to the faculty appointment.
Faculty members holding this title as a secondary appointment are subject to those policies and procedures applicable to their primary appointment and retain faculty benefits.
May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).

Minimum Requirements
Master's degree or a minimum of two years related work experience.
Demonstrated technology skills and ability, including the use of a LMS and other educational technology, with a particular focus on online courses.
Understanding of digital accessibility and applying principles of Universal Design for learning in online and hybrid courses/programs.
Knowledge of research-based best practices in the use of educational technology in hybrid and online courses/programs.
Experience delivering professional development/training and/or teaching in higher education.
Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to communicate, motivate, and collaborate with others to meet desired outcomes.
The successful candidate must be creative, collaborative, and flexible; detail-oriented, and thrive in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
Additional Qualifications Considered
A terminal degree or master's degree with significant progress toward doctorate.
Experience teaching online or in hybrid courses within the higher education context.
Experience working with teaching and learning center programs.
Experience supporting others in the development and production of digital video.
Knowledge of and enthusiasm for a range of educational technologies that support innovative pedagogies.
Familiarity with Quality Matters rubrics and standards and/or OLC Scorecard.
Demonstrated application of course design principles and practices in a postsecondary hybrid/online environment.
Accomplishments such as professional presentations, grants, or publications in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) or Discipline-Based Education Research (DBER).
Experience teaching in the Canvas LMS and/or training and otherwise supporting others in using Canvas.
