Academic & Enterprise Systems (AES), part of the Office of the Registrar, facilitates student success systems across campus, including the University Student Information System, Document Management Systems, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), and Student Success Platforms. In close coordination with the campus community, AES identifies and develops functionality within these systems to support student and academic success. Additionally, AES develops and maintains data integration between systems and is responsible for the accuracy of student data on campus.
Reporting directly to the Associate Director for Solutions Development, the Senior Solutions Developer is primarily responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise information systems and interface applications to fulfill the University’s business and operational needs. The position evaluates, selects, and implements solutions that align with the organization's requirements and architecture. Working collaboratively with University stakeholders and external partners & vendors, this individual will play a key role as a change agent and a subject matter expert to support effective system processes and practices. The incumbent will mentor, develop, and provide input in the supervision of junior solution developers. The Senior Solutions Developer fosters and maintains collaborative relationships with all AES partners while supporting overall strategic goals of the department.
The ideal candidate has a strong knowledge of system & software development concepts, protocols, and standards; leverage their experience, expertise, and established industry knowledge to the organization’s processes and architecture; demonstrate attention to the determinants & priorities of system access and security while balancing business and operational needs. The candidate has strong and creative problem solving & analytical competence(s). The individual can effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Responsibilities include:
Provide technical expertise in developing, implementing, and maintaining University enterprise information systems and interface applications to fulfill business and operational needs.
Serve as liaison to the University community. Lead change management and function as a subject matter expert in assisting system & process efficiency and enhancement.
Create and maintain solutions that support the University’s security and business objectives. This includes designing and executing comprehensive testing and validation processes to ensure the functionality, performance, and security of software applications in accordance with industry standards and stakeholder requirements. Ensure seamless integration with existing systems and applications.
Develop and enforce system and software security policies, standards, and guidelines. Stay up to date with industry trends, regulatory requirements, and emerging technologies to ensure the framework remains effective and compliant. Participate in security audits and assessments to validate the effectiveness of the framework. Identify and remediate any vulnerabilities or non-compliance issues. Assist in maintaining regulatory compliance with standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, FERPA, PCI-DSS, and others as applicable to the University.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, security, compliance, and business units, to gather requirements, address concerns, and ensure the successful implementation and operation of solutions. Communicate and educate stakeholders on policies, processes, and best practices.
Mentor and provide guidance to junior developers. Assist in solving coding problems and conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices. Share acquired knowledge and insights with team through internal discussions and/or presentations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or closely related field.
At least 5 years of functional and technical experience in application and software development lifecycle revolving around education enterprise technology solutions.
Experience with standard operating procedure pertaining to an application development environment - testing strategies, change management, documentation, and so on.
Experience with one or more programming languages such as C++, Java, Python, JavaScript, C#.
Ability to effectively communicate in writing and verbally, and present dynamically to a variety of constituents.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or closely related field; and/or
Experience with products and tools such as Oracle, BANNER, DegreeWorks, OnBase, Argos or similar solutions; and/or
Familiarity with cloud services and platforms (E.g., AWS, Azure AD, Google Cloud, Ellucian Cloud); and/or
Familiar with industry standard project management/account management applications; and/or
Experience with Windows, Linux / Unix, scripting (Bash, PowerShell, or Perl), LDAP, SQL, and web services.

Possibility of working remote is available.
Salary range between $105,533 and $116,086 commensurate with qualifications and experience.
