Job Summary
The Department of Environmental Health at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health is seeking a candidate for a full time Senior Research Project Manager to work closely with Shruthi Mahalingaiah (coPI), the study team including co-PI's and research staff on the Apple Women's Health Study (AWHS). In the first study of its kind, the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health has teamed up with Apple and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) to gain a deeper understanding of how certain demographic and lifestyle factors could have an impact on menstrual cycles and gynecologic conditions including infertility, menopause, and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The cycle tracking data from your iPhone and/or Apple Watch (optional), along with participants' survey responses, will help inform the development of innovative products for menstrual cycles, risk assessment, and screening of gynecologic conditions. Position Description
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Project Management
Reviews, monitors, and tracks progress on timelines for a complex series of study activities, including ensuring completion of deliverables, managing competing priorities, and working reciprocally with project staff and external partners
Manages the project tasks and timelines for manuscripts, research study updates, recruitment and retention campaigns, and other related tasks and timelines
Agenda collection/setting for project meetings with the PI, local study staff, and other collaborators; assist in preparation and delivery of project updates and reports
Leads administrative meetings, collation of comments, and follow-up
Tracks project team's inventory, personnel, payments, spending and budget
Team Management
Facilitates communication and collaboration with research personnel within and across institutions, most notably with partners at SPH, NIEHS, project sponsor, and team members.
Oversees hiring and subcontracting for the project, as needed. Liaises with department's administrative core to effectively coordinate new hire processes and execute onboarding and offboarding processes.
Oversees timelines for annual and quarterly reviews for study team members
Responsible for supervising staff including but not limited to recruitment and retention team members
IRB/Participant Facing
Serves as the main manager for participant call center and executes proper reporting of call center metrics and updates to PI and sponsor
Escalate research-related queries to the PI when appropriate
Liaise with the external IRB and across teams to facilitate timely review of submitted IRB amendments
Helps to oversee the communications editorial calendar (work closely with the PI and Social Media Coordinator for this) to ensure alignment with project milestones for participant recruitment and retention
Recruitment/retention planning for the study
Study Materials
Assist in developing, maintaining, and enforcing standard operating procedures (SOPs); develops, submits and amends IRB protocol, clinicaltrials.gov and sharing with sponsor for appropriate reporting
Annually review of the DMP and MOP
Collates and revises surveys for iterative survey design and implementation
May present research findings to internal and external audiences
The Senior Research Project Manager will perform other duties as assigned.
PLEASE NOTE: This position has a term appointment of 1 year from date of hire, with the possibility of extension.
PLEASE NOTE: Occasional night and/or weekend work may be required.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a hybrid position and this position will be based in Boston, MA. Additional detail pertaining to this position will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed in a state in which Harvard is registered to do business (Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, California (exempt staff only), Georgia, Illinois, New Jersey, Virginia, and Washington).
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required
5+ years of related experience is required
Experience with IRB protocol is required
Additional Qualifications and Skills
The following job-specific skills and competencies are preferred:
Master's Degree or MPH strongly preferred
Experience or training in epidemiology
Experience or training in reproductive health
Experience in study management
Previous experience with IRBs, protocol development, training research staff
Knowledge of standard epidemiologic research methods, including survey based prospective cohort study design and quantitative statistical techniques
Experience with applicable computer technologies such as Adobe, MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Keynote
Experience making visually appealing reports, posters, and slides for the presentation of research projects
Strong organizational and communication skills
Works well independently and as a team
