Under the general supervision of the Finance Operations Manager and with direction from the School of Medicine Controller, the Finance Analyst performs a variety of analytical assignments and conducts comprehensive reviews of a variety of financial transactions and reports for units in the School of Medicine (SOM). The incumbent is responsible for a wide variety of budget, financial, and operational analyses for existing and anticipated programs. Fund sources supporting these units could include State and UC General Funds, Health Compensation Plan Funds, Student Tuition and Fee Funds, Contract, Grant and Gift Funds, and Sales & Services Funds. The incumbent serves as Kuali Financial System (KFS) Fiscal Officer for all assigned accounts and transactions. The incumbent understands and applies generally accepted accounting principles, cost accounting standards, and University policies and procedures. The incumbent is responsible for implementing and maintaining systems to insure efficient operation of all business functions while remaining in compliance with University policies and procedures.

Required:
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
3-5 years of experience with BA/BS, or equivalent experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated experience in financial analysis. Demonstrated critical thinking skills. Demonstrated skill to work independently to analyze situations, interpret data, define problems and/or objectives, identify relevant factors, and formulate logical conclusions. Experience using Excel to input and organize data, analyze data, and create accurate and informative tables, charts, graphs, and reports. Ability to read and write in the English language. Ability to work and communicate effectively with a variety of constituencies including faculty, administrators, staff, students, and vendors. Skill to organize tasks, prioritize, and complete assignments when faced with heavy and diversified workload, deadlines, and demanding requests for service in an environment of frequent interruptions and/or distractions. Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information. Ability to maintain a positive attitude and contribute both as an individual and a team member to achieve the goals of the School. Demonstrated experience working as a member of a team, being willing to offer services and respond to requests for assistance under appropriate circumstances. Excellent interpersonal skills to establish and maintain professional working relationships. Knowledge of accounting theory and university fund accounting
Preferred:
Experience with UC or UC Irvine enterprise systems, including but not limited to Kuali Financial System, Cognos Decision Support, and Campus Billing System Online. Experience processing financial journals, recharge transactions, and budget transfers. Experience with University of California or University of California, Irvine policies and procedures. Knowledge of federal regulations governing research activity, including Uniform Guidance.
