Job Description The Financial Analyst is a key member of Boston Universitys Comptroller team. Reporting directly to the Associate Comptroller of Strategic Financial Initiatives, the Financial Analyst position provides analytical support to the Strategic Initiatives team. They will prepare, collect, and interpret financial data to develop financial analyses, projections, short and long-term financial plans, and other reports.
Major duties of this position include:
Manages and leads a portfolio of special projects working directly with the University's academic and administrative units. Improves business processes and financial reporting to advance the University's goals of simplicity, transparency, effectiveness, and excellent financial controls.
Maintains an executive dashboard (Power BI) which summarizes daily financial and operational performance metrics and illuminates any on-going issues to leadership.
Supports the preparation of regular reporting to senior management and Board of Trustees relating to all activities within domain of Finance unit.
Assists in the preparation of the University's annual financial report, including the compilation of Management's Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) published with the audited financial statements.
Pay Range:
Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect to earn between $76,000 - $114,000 per year.
Required Skills
Bachelor's degree in a Finance or Accounting related field
5-8 years of work experience, preferably in a university environment
Ability to multi-task and prioritize routine tasks and ad-hoc requests
Advanced oral and written communication and analytical skills
Detail oriented, demonstrating accuracy and quality of work output
Ability to work (both independently and in conjunction with others) effectively and cooperatively in a small, collegial team environment
Experience in analyzing data to determine relevant conclusions and suggest appropriate actions to senior leadership
Preferred Skills:
MBA, CPA, or CFA certification(s)
