What Supply Chain Inventory and Purchasing contributes to Cardinal Health Operations is responsible for materials handling and product distribution in a distribution or manufacturing environment. Includes warehousing and fulfillment of materials and products, transportation, inventory management as well as demand, supply and manufacturing planning.
The Supply Chain Inventory and Purchasing team is responsible for managing supplier relations at a tactical level by executing and expediting purchase orders. Supply Chain Inventory and Purchasing ensures the right quantity of products arrive in the right place, at the right time and cost. Assists in negotiating product and supply chain costs. Utilize terms and conditions of supplier contracts, work with internal customers to improve processes, and evaluate supplier performance that ultimately improves the supply chain.
Job Summary The Senior Analyst, Supply Chain Inventory and Purchasing performs analysis of the inventory and over the counter products. The analyses include maintaining optimal inventory levels and minimizing loss risk for products. This job also communicates with suppliers to address inventory issues including products substitutions. This job supports sales by placing purchase orders as requested and communicates any potential supply and demand variations based on complex forecast analysis conducted.
This role is accountable for the design and execution of demand planning and customer forecasting systems; supply planning, product deployment and expediting processes; and the development and implementation of a stocking optimization model to minimize costs and inventory while delivering on service requirements.
Responsibilities
Works on an inventory management team of three to help support the Specialty business through working with sourcing, customer service, replenishment, and pricing teams.
Customizes inventory strategies to ensure product availability, maximize in stocks and prevent stock outs.
Analyzes new/changing customer usage and takes appropriate actions to plan for demand changes.
Works closely with the other Inventory Management teams as well as the Sourcing, Customer Service, Sales and Operations teams to understand and align product supply with customer demand.
Tracks, analyzes and reports on key performance metrics.
Strives to understand others' opinions and build agreement among team members; utilizes others' ideas and suggestions to shape solutions.
Identifies data requirements, often beyond the standard, and collects all relevant data needed to analyze a complex problem, situation or issue.
Responsible for meeting In Stock and DIOH targets.
Works independently to identify current service issues and determines the best sources of data for pinpointing the problem; effectively leads the coordination and resolution of those issues.
Creates and maintains SOP's.
Relays critical information for customer communications.
Demonstrates a commitment to meeting service expectations or fulfilling service agreements; consistently meets customers' needs.
Responsible for sales and operational planning by partnering with the local DC inventory teams.
Create, document, and implement new processes with the local DC teams to help improve supply chain efficiencies.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred
3-5 years of experience preferred
Experience with SCORE, Distrack, and SAP preferred
Proficient in Microsoft office
Strong analytic skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong understanding of supply chain concepts, financial acumen, and product knowledge preferred
