This position performs all aspects of coordination for capital improvements projects including project planning and development, customer coordination, tracking project expenses, providing construction management/contractor coordination and performing project completion/closeout tasks. Manages and oversees the activities of multiple facilities projects to ensure satisfactory progress is made toward completion.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Manages and coordinates a wide variety of capital and renovation related construction projects. Has accountability for the program management of the overall construction process ensuring delivered projects meet the documented program requirements and are complete on time and within budget. Periodically reviews construction progress and makes recommendations to the stakeholders for improvements and solutions to correct deficiencies.
Assists the Director of Operations and various facilities leaders in the management and administration of the project prioritization process. Inspects and assesses buildings and systems conditions, make recommendations for capital improvements. Identifies, recommends and schedules any necessary repairs, replacement and/or remodeling projects. Coordinates with campus facilities in performance of provided services.
Prepares and anticipates cost, labor, supplies/equipment and time analysis for repairs, replacement and/or remodeling projects. Determines the need for outside contractors and assist in the preparation of bid specifications and the selection of contractors. Serves as liaison with contractors and reviews work of same for conformity to standards.
Serves as an in-house space planner for faculty and staff which may or may not result in actual construction needs.
Maintains files and official records of major capital projects. Assures all as-built drawings and operating instructions are filed appropriately.
Tracks the status of projects, comparing progress to established milestones. Prepares detailed reports on project progress, identifying problems, solutions, milestones, financial cost projections and analyses. Provides regular communications, updates, and reports throughout the project phases as required.
Acts as the liaison with assigned client groups, providing project status updates and answers to client questions. Oversees the work of external vendors/workers for assigned projects. Serves as project manager for various minor projects, establishing scope of work, budget and scheduling in conjunction with the Director of Operations. Responsible for warranty period activities and communication with building users and contractors to get the buildings functioning correctly and addressing deficiencies in a timely manner.
Preferred Qualifications
MBA, Bachelorâ™s degree in Engineering, construction management, architecture or related field, and/or PMI Project Management Certification, plus four or more years of experience.Â

Bachelor's degree in related field and three years of experience or Masterâ™s and one year of related experience.

Salary Range
$52,000.00 - $88,800.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
