This position reports to the Executive Assistant Dean for Administration and Finance and serves as a key staffing and HR strategist within the Dean's Office, providing high-level expertise and senior staff support to the Dean of the School of Medicine and her executive leadership team. The incumbent will utilize comprehensive and in-depth staff and human resources expertise to provide guidance and recommendations regarding strategic direction to the School of Medicine and its executives and work on strategic staffing issues that are diverse and complex in scope, requiring analysis of many factors and development of appropriate solutions. This position will work on initiating and developing new long and short-range initiatives aligned with the School of Medicine's strategic goals. The incumbent is expected to respond to various issues and handle sensitive discussions with little or no precedence, requiring expedient and diplomatic action, and apply their breadth and depth of institutional knowledge to build relationships with key constituencies and partners, both internal and external to the organization. The incumbent will exercise a high level of judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results and is considered a subject matter expert. This role will work on a wide range of staffing projects and initiatives for the Dean's Office, supporting the strategic recruitment and professional development of senior leadership roles, such as Chief Administrative Officers and other executive leadership roles across the School of Medicine.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent training and experience.
3+ years of analytical and project management experience with experience solving complex problems.
Work independently in a complex environment, both in-person and remotely.
Advanced interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills to effectively and professionally communicate in person, in writing, and in presentation format to both internal and external constituencies and stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to understand, analyze and interpret complex written material and other data, and effectively communicate results.
Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential issues that require independent judgment and strict discretion, and maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive, confidential and/or privileged information.
Ability to recognize the need for, and to maintain, security of confidential information.
Experience with leading and coordinating groups.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in human resources management, organizational management, or related fields.
Previous Health System or Academic Medical Center experience preferred.
Department Description
The UC Davis School of Medicine Dean's Office is responsible for the overall administration of activities relevant to the School of Medicine. The school consists of 25 departments and 15 centers. The Dean, her leadership team, and her office provide oversight, support, and guidance to the departments and maintain a collaborative connection between UC Davis Campus and UC Davis Medical Center to support the mission areas of education, research, clinical care, and community.
