The Foundation Development Director position provides high-level professional skills to the Dakota County Technical College Foundation. The focus of this position is to provide leadership for the growth and sustained success of the major giving program(s) and alumni relations program at the DCTC Foundation. The position will identify, cultivate and personally solicit businesses, corporations and individuals with the ability to make significant gifts to the college. It also has the responsibility for the ongoing stewardship of major gift contributors and alumni.
This position is responsible for the planning and implementing a comprehensive fund raising plan with a priority on managing the overall comprehensive fundraising campaign. Components include project management and logistics to cultivate and solicit donations from the corporate community and individuals.
Tactics for fundraising include an annual foundation fundraising event, corporate and community foundation grant solicitations, individual cultivation and fundraising, sponsorships, other significant events, as well as developing an alumni giving base.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
Two (2) years of related work experience (examples would include one or more of the following):
Experience in donor cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, grant writing, and/or managing fundraising campaigns
Experience managing programs in the nonprofit sector
Experience establishing and nurturing strong relationships that contribute to program/project success
Experience in developing marketing/communication strategies and campaigns.
General working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
Excellent verbal and written communication
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree
Professional experience in higher education fundraising and major gift fundraising
Experience in writing business plans and proposals
Demonstrated knowledge of current best practices in development, including annual major gift-giving
